The Giusy Versace exhibition arrives in Monza
In Villa Reale the photographs of the "Walls of Silence" against violence against women
A traveling photographic exhibition that aims to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women arrives in Monza. The photographic project “The Walls of Silence”, conceived by the photographer Mjriam Bon and created by Giusy Versace, National Head of the Equal Opportunities and Disability Department of Forza Italia, (organised by Getshow Srl Deborah Megna), will be set up at the Orangery of the Villa Reale of Monza and inaugurated on 19 December in the presence of the Honorable Versace herself and the authorities. The project, which in Monza has the patronage of the Municipality, Department of Equal Opportunities, was conceived and organized by Fidapa Bpw Italy Modoetia Corona Ferrea in collaboration with Deborah Megna. "The walls are those of those who cannot see or those who pretend not to see, the silences of those who do not speak because they are afraid, because they are ashamed", explain the organizers. The project was born in 2019 in the form of a photographic exhibition set up at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, it has become a limited edition photographic book, which has started a fundraiser to be allocated to women who have suffered violence, to help them rebuild a new life. There are 21 photographs on display, which portray some of the 75 faces protagonists of the book in close-up. Well-known and lesser-known people from the world of entertainment, politics, women victims of violence and ordinary people in the gesture of covering their eyes, ears and mouth to signify "I don't see, I don't hear and I don't speak". A unanimous and transversal expression to say: enough violence, abuse and silence. The initiative therefore aims to give continuity to a constantly evolving project that seeks to keep the spotlight on an increasingly current problem. “I think it is a duty of each of us to help women who have suffered violence and continue to talk about how far there is still to go for full inclusion,” explained Giusy Versace
