Checks on 70 public places, 15 suspensions of activities, 14 illegal workers and over €80.000 in fines
Monza: Massive operation against undeclared work and safety in public establishments
On the joint initiative of the Metropolitan Area Inspectorate of Milano and the Police Headquarters of Monza and Brianza, a massive operation aimed at combating undeclared work and verifying compliance with health and safety regulations in public establishments of the Municipality of Monza. Crews from the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the Monza Local Police contributed to the checks. 70 labor inspectors were deployed, divided into teams, who inspected 70 public places, half of which were found to be irregular. In particular:
- they were adopted 15 measures to suspend business activities, of which 14 for the employment of illegal workers and 1 for serious violations of the regulations on health and safety in the workplace;
- were imparted 2 prescriptions for the safety of work environments;
- have been imposed fines of over €80.000,00;
- were 14 illegal workers found, 2 of which without a regular residence permit;
- were A total of 141 workers were checked.
To these specialized checks have been added checks on clubbers with an additional 30 men, 15 crews, including the State Police, the Monza Local Police, the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. In addition, the State Police and the Monza Local Police have jointly controlled 8 commercial establishments and 123 people in the areas of Monza Station, Piazza Indipendenza, Corso Milano, Via Italia, Largo Mazzini, Platform 7 and San Rocco. They have been 10 discoveries of narcotic substances, mainly marijuana or hashish, were made in the gardens of Piazza Arosio for a total of approximately 20 grams.
Among the people checked, mostly foreign citizens who were staying or camping in the central areas of the city and aged between 25 and 40, 73 people tested positive at police terminals for numerous crimes against property, such as robberies and thefts, drug dealing crimes, crimes against illegal immigration and against the person, such as injuries and mistreatment.
They have been high fines for a total of 9000 euros due to failure to comply with licenses or opening hours, illegal occupation of public land, as well as failure to indicate the origin of the products or the absence of minimum indications in Italian on the safety of food products. The operation is part of the synergic initiatives between the control bodies desired by the Prefecture of Monza and Brianza to ensure the protection of the territory.
