Monza: the perpetrators of the fire at the kiosk in via Sant'Andrea identified

The State Police of Monza has reported to the Judicial Authority the alleged perpetrators of the arson attack on the outdoor area of ​​the bar "Al Chiosco", located in Monza in via Sant'Andrea, committed last January 4. The fire was allegedly started by teenagers between the ages of 12 and 14, already known to the police.

The Monza State Police have reported to the Judicial Authorities the alleged perpetrators of the arson attack on the outdoor seating area of ​​the “Al Chiosco” bar, located in Monza in via Sant'Andrea, committed last January 4th.

The events occurred in the early afternoon, when some citizens, while passing along the road adjacent to the commercial establishment, noticed that smoke was being released from the kiosk located inside the public gardens. Within a few minutes, flames began to burst forth, growing ever higher.

The firefighters, promptly alerted, managed to put out the fire, avoiding further dangers to public safety. Despite prompt intervention, all the furnishings (tent, tables and chairs) were destroyed, with damage estimated at several thousand euros.

Together with the Fire Brigade, personnel from the State Police intervened on site and immediately began the first investigations to reconstruct what happened.

During the inspection, some firecrackers emptied of gunpowder were seized, and the presence of an accelerant was also detected, circumstances that immediately allowed the events to be attributed to a malicious nature.

The investigative activity, conducted by the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of MilanoThrough the viewing of images from security cameras in the area and the testimonies of residents and passers-by, allowed us to trace the perpetrators, 4 very young boys who, immediately after the events, fled into the surrounding streets.

The in-depth analysis carried out on the physiognomic characteristics of the perpetrators and on the details of the clothing worn allowed us to trace their identity. It emerged in fact that the fire was started by teenagers between the ages of 12 and 14, already known to the police as they have been checked several times in the city centre during the so-called movida evenings.

Search warrants were therefore requested against them, issued by decree of the Prosecutor's Office. Therefore, In the early hours of Thursday 30 January, the police carried out searches of the suspects, finding in their homes the clothing worn on the day of the events (jackets, tracksuit bottoms and shoes).

In the next few days, further chemical tests will be carried out on the material seized by the Fire Brigade.
