Monza: A meeting dedicated to mourning for teachers and educators. Perspectives and resources

European statistics show that 29 in 18 children suffers the loss of a parent, brother or sister before the age of XNUMX.

For a child, a boy or a teenager who has experienced the loss of a loved one, going back to school can be a time of great difficulty: his life has changed significantly and often his classmates and teachers don't know what to do about it.

It may also happen that a mourning event occurs within the institution itself such as the death of a student or faculty member: a collective traumatic event that must be addressed by adults and children together.

Whether death occurs after an illness or from other causes, class members, in addition to dealing with and containing their own grief, find themselves interacting with children and families who are grieving.

A Specific training of school staff can make the difference to provide adequate support to students who are facing such a complex and painful situation and therefore facilitate their mourning process.

THEMarta Roncoroni ETS Association organizes, in collaboration with “Dragonflies in the Heart“, Project of the Maurizio Fragiacomo Foundation of Milano, and with the patronage of IRCCS Foundation San Gerardo dei Tintori and the Municipality of Monza, the first awareness-raising meeting on the topic, which will focus on the role of adults close to grieving children and young people.

The meeting, scheduled for next February 12th at 20.30 pm at the headquarters of the IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori in Monza, will introduce the methodological approach of “Dragonflies in the heart” in schools , online guide dedicated to the theme of school mourning.

The intervention of “Dragonflies in the heart” will be conducted by Laura Bottari e Paola Pumpkin Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Jungian Analysts and EMDR Practitioners in collaboration with Laura Felisati, Professional Counselor and Project Coordinator.
