Monza: Barricaded in his home, he threatens to set himself on fire by inflicting wounds on his arms with a kitchen knife to avoid being taken to court for the hearing

The State Police intervened in Via Vespucci at an apartment where a man had barricaded himself inside, threatening to set himself on fire or set fire to the apartment if the police did not leave. The man was to be picked up and taken to the Monza Courthouse for a hearing with a direct procedure., following the arrest for aggravated damage that occurred the previous evening, inside a health facility. Given the man's inflexibility from his purpose and his refusal to any attempt at dialogue with the police officers present, The Police Chief called in the negotiator and psychologist of the State Police, in order to start a dialogue with the man using specialized personnel to make him desist from his intent.

Its thanks to the interlocutory activity started with the negotiator the man was distracted from his intention and a team of the State Police rapid response units, with prior authorization from the Police Chief and having notified the Public Prosecutor at the Monza Public Prosecutor's Office, entered the apartment blocking the man, who was found holding a kitchen knife of about 30 centimetres and with some cuts on his arms.

Following the operation, the man was transported to the San Gerardo Hospital to ascertain his health conditions and subsequently taken to the Court hearing. The specialized personnel who intervened as negotiators are from the Police Headquarters Milano and the emergency response unit is part of the Crime Prevention Department of MilanoThe operational service was directed by the Director of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office of the Monza and Brianza Police Headquarters, with the support of the Monza State Police personnel.
