Monza, a pair of scammers busted: two arrested for thefts of over €550 from elderly residents.

In the early hours of 2th December, State Police of Monza and Brianza arrested two Italian citizens of And 32 34 years, recipients of a precautionary measure to arrest issued by GIP of Monza at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.

The two are held responsible for numerous scams and home burglaries to the detriment of elderly people, carried out with the proven method of fake lawyer or of fake belonging to the police force, one of the most widespread and insidious techniques against vulnerable sections of the population.

The first case: a 400 euro heist in the safe of a 73-year-old woman

The investigation began at the end of 2024 after a theft that occurred in Monza to the detriment of a woman , robbed of valuables worth over 400.000 €.

The victim had received a series of phone calls from a man who, Pretending to be a friend of her son, he had asked her for an urgent bank transfer of 7.000 euros, claiming that if he didn't pay, his son would end up in prison.

During subsequent calls, made after having fraudulently obtained the elderly woman's mobile number, the scammer had managed to obtain information on the goods stored in the house and even the intercom number.

Shortly after, an accomplice showed up at the door and, having obtained the code to the safe, had stole jewels and valuables, taking advantage of the victim's disorientation.

The investigation and the connection with other thefts in Italy

The surveillance cameras allowed investigators to identify a car Gray Volkswagen T-Roc, seen walking away from the scene of the theft.

The same vehicle was linked to a similar incident that occurred in Friuli, in which a 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman had been reported: the same ones arrested today.

Further investigations revealed that, the morning after the Monza robbery, the man had reached Milan Central Station, traveling in high-speed train to Naples with a trolley containing part of the stolen goods.

The investigations then reconstructed a much broader picture: the two would have committed nine more thefts and scams in various Italian cities.

An organization with more resources and accomplices

To move and strike, the couple used rental car, often made available to accomplices, some of whom came from Campania to take part in the operations.

On two occasions, in the early months of 2025, the two had already been arrested red-handed by the operators of the Flying Squad of the Monza Police Headquarters. In both cases, the woman played the role of stick while the man was acting inside the targeted buildings.

The overall value of the stolen goods in the various contested episodes exceeds 550.000 € between cash, jewelry and watches.

House arrests were carried out in the municipalities of Milano e Cinisello Balsamo, with the support of the Mobile Squad agents and under the coordination of the Monza Public Prosecutor's Office.

The two individuals are now at the disposal of the Judicial Authorities.
