The electric motor must have a power not exceeding 0,50 kW and the CE marking must appear on the frame.
To ride, the scooter driver must: use the cycle path when present; hold both hands on the handlebars except to signal the turning maneuver; drive the scooter by hand when circumstances require it so as not to create danger or obstruction to other road users.
During the night hours and in any case of poor visibility, can only circulate if equipped with a fixed white or yellow light at the front and a fixed red light at the rear, both lit and the driver must wear a jacket or High visibility reflective braces.
Driving a motorized scooter with requirements other than those permitted entails a administrative fine from 200 to 800 euros; for those who park the scooter on the sidewalk or in such a way as to obstruct traffic, the fine ranges from 41 to 168 euros (for other violations from 50 to 250 euros).
However, scooters are permitted to park in spaces reserved for bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
However, some provisions already provided for by the new regulations will only be operational in the future, when the implementing decrees are issued, with particular reference to the obligation of insurance coverage and the obligation to request the issue of the identification stamp, printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato.
