The accident occurred at 3.15 am in Piazzale Risorgimento in Modena at the height of the crossing with Via Tassoni. Driver reported, car seized.
Driving with an alcohol level well above the legal limit, he lost control of the vehicle and ended up crashing into the traffic light that regulates pedestrian crossings.
It happened shortly after three in the morning in Piazzale Risorgimento, at the intersection with Viale Tassoni, in Modena.

The worst hit were the vertical road signs and in particular the traffic light at the pedestrian crossing that the car, an Audi A3 travelling along Via Giardini in the direction of the centre, hit when turning onto Viale Tassoni.
The Modena Local Police intervened to carry out the legal surveys and also requested the intervention of Hera; the area was made safe in view of the restoration of the plant. In addition, the Local Police operators they subjected the driver to a preliminary breathalyser test and a subsequent examination which revealed an alcohol level over three times the permitted level.
To man, of Italian nationality and resident in Tuscany, he was therefore charged with the crime of drunk driving in the most serious form defined by article 186 of the Highway Code. In addition to the immediate withdrawal of the license, the officers proceeded to seize the vehicle owned.
The judicial authority will decide to what extent to apply any criminal sanction (the fine ranges from 800 to 3.200 euros) and the additional charges, including the deduction of points and the duration of the suspension of the driving license from six months to one year.
