Modena: Two individuals reported for false attestation to public official and ideological falsity of driving license

The license seemed completely in order., the name reported on the document coincided with that of the documents shown by the owner to the Modena local police officer during a routine road check that took place several months ago. But something didn't add up in the photographs, as similar as they are, reported on the various documents that confirmed the driver's identity. Perhaps a mole or a scar too many: some details, such as to make one believe that the photo on the Italian driving licence of the holder, a foreign citizen resident in the province of Modena, was not that of the holder, have made carry out thorough checks by the Judicial Police of the Via Galilei Command.

The different identity of the person portrayed in the driving licence photo was verified, also with the support of the Scientific Police of the Modena Police Headquarters, It was clear that there had been a case of identity theft, that is, a man resembling the stopped driver had obtained the driving licence in his place.

The local police officers then acquired the documentation relating to obtaining the driving licence from the Motor Vehicle Department and cross-referenced the data with those from the Registry Office. They have thus succeeded in also identify the second person, the one who, with a false identity, actually passed the driving test, after having also undergone the preliminary medical examination with delivery of the photo, which then ended up on the driving document. The incident was reconstructed and the documents were sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office which delegated the local police the investigation concluded with the driver being reported in conjunction with the person who had replaced him.

False attestation to a public official and ideological falsity of the driving license are the crimes contested to the two. The driving license issued was in fact not counterfeited, nor altered (the cases in which material falsity is detected) it is instead authentic from a formal point of view, but its content is not faithful to reality, it is therefore ideologically false. It was therefore placed under seizure with a note sent to the Prefecture of Modena and to the Modena motorization for the administrative measures of the case.
