Brescia, the Leno Community House inaugurated, thus strengthening healthcare in the region.

A single point of reference for the health of citizens who can undertake a personalized treatment path; complete assessment of needs carried out by medical and healthcare professionals;
integration of the health service with the social sector to offer timely and more widespread responses across the territory.

These are the strong points of the Community Houses envisaged by the plan to strengthen Lombardy's healthcare.

A practical example of how territorial medicine is expressed is that of the Community House of Leno (BS) included in the Asst Garda and inaugurated by the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana together with the vice-president and councilor for Welfare, Letizia Moratti.

The regional councilor for Housing and Social Housing, Alessandro Mattinzoli, the vice-president of the Health and Social Policies Commission of the Lombardy Regional Council, Simona Tironi and other regional councilors participated in the ceremony. Also speaking were Mario Alparone, general director of Asst Garda, the socio-health director Roberta Brenna and the mayor of Leno Cristina Tedaldi.
The Lombardy Region has already identified the first 218 Community Houses and the first 71 Community Hospitals.

GOVERNOR FONTANA: HEALTH CLOSER TO CITIZENS - “Today is the beginning of an innovative path in our healthcare. The reform that we approved a few months ago and which was implemented by listening to all the components of our society, all the healthcare stakeholders. This law, of which I am particularly proud, is the first in Italy to move healthcare responses closer to the needs of citizens, while at the same time avoiding putting hospitals under pressure for services that are not the responsibility of the hospitals themselves".

Answering journalists' questions, President Fontana underlined the importance of the first day without masks outdoors: “It is a message of great hope that must reach all our citizens. These steps forward are the result of vaccinations, of which the Lombards have been the main interpreters." “Let's not forget that – the president commented – Lombardy is first in the world in terms of percentage of third booster doses already inoculated. Japan follows us in this ranking."

VICE PRESIDENT MORATTI: THE SYNERGY BETWEEN DOCTORS AND NURSES IS WINNING - “With the regional law approved in November – underlined Vice President Moratti – we have strengthened local healthcare. 218 community homes and 71 community hospitals are under construction. After Milano, Leno and Nave are the first houses we are inaugurating in Lombardy".
“It is a first point of access and orientation, clinical analysis with the presence of services – he explained – and the collaboration between doctors and nurses becomes fundamental: the doctors for the part relating to diagnoses and clinical, the nurses for the activities, for example example, follow up for hypertensives and dialysis patients. A synergy, respecting specific professions, which represents an important step forward. Citizens will have all those services that especially concern frailties and chronic conditions."

CONNECTION BETWEEN HEALTH AND SOCIAL AREA - “Another important point – he remarked – is the connection between the health and social areas: in fact, counseling centers, social workers and psychologists are present in the Community Houses. A strong integration that allows citizens to go to a single place to use services. In Leno, for example, it is possible, with a single application, to apply to enter the RSAs (10 present in the area). In the same facility you can access peritoneal dialysis which does not require hospitalization. In short, attention and a path of care that facilitate the dimension of closeness."

COUNCILOR MATTINZOLI: CONCRETE ANSWERS FOR THE TERRITORY BRESCIADO NOT - “The Brescia area – said councilor Mattinzoli – concretely experiences the evolution of the new law to strengthen healthcare in Lombardy, an innovative law that combines social and welfare. An adequate tool that will put all operators in the best conditions to operate."

TERRITORIAL CONTEXT – Leno is located in a central position with respect to the territory of the Garda Asst: it is the municipality with the highest population density (13.956 inhabitants) after Ghedi and is equipped with a local hospital whose services are already known to the population.
The presence of the top leaders of the Lombardy Region is part of a series of visits to the Community Homes and Hospitals located in the area.
Vice President Moratti also visited the Nave and Manerbio facilities.

CARD

THE LENO COMMUNITY HOSPITAL – It is a short-term hospitalization healthcare facility that performs an intermediate function between the home and hospital admission. The objective is to avoid improper hospital admissions and encourage protected discharges in more suitable places closer to home. It has a sub-acute inpatient department with 20 beds of which 15 are active.
The department welcomes patients, mainly suffering from various pathologies, coming from the Manerbio hospital.

LENO COMMUNITY HOUSE – The Community House provides the following services: Single Access Point (PUA), Single Booking Centre, Sampling Point, Primary Care (GP, PLS), Integrated Home Care, Family and Community Nurses, community participation and volunteering, Services Social, Multidimensional Evaluation Unit, inclusion in RSA and Polyclinics-Diabetes Center-Radiology.
Inside the House there are also the Revocation and Prosthetic Choice Office, the Family Counseling Centre, Vaccinations, Certificates and Licenses office, Psycho-Social Centre, Rehabilitation Area, Disability with Handicap Operational Team, Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry, Youth Psychosocial Area , the SPDC Psychiatry Department, the Outpatient Clinics and Rehabilitation Department, the Cognitive Disorders and Dementia Center
and AVIS.

LENO'S NUMBERS – Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment Department (SPDC): 15 beds;

Patients in the care of the Psycho-Social Center (CPS): 2.000;
Patients treated at the Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry (NPIA): 1000;
Patients treated at the Cognitive Disorders Dementia Center: 200;
Integrated Home Care: 336 patients in care;
Multidimensional Assessment Unit: 4437 assessments in 2021.
These services are provided within the clinic: Cardiology, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Sports Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Gynecology-Obstetrics, Otolaryngology, Diabetology, General Surgery.
