Anti-drug blitz in the "Bronx" of Licata: 25 arrests.

Anti-drug raid in the so-called “Licata Bronx”, in the Agrigento area. The drug trafficking gang had installed numerous cameras to control access to the operational base of the association. This would have made the operation more complicated than expected.

The Flying Squad of Agrigento, coordinated by Deputy Chief of Police Giovanni Minardi, conducted - for over a year and a half - a complex investigative activity which made it possible to report over 40 people held responsible, in various capacities, for criminal association aimed at trafficking of drugs, and other crimes of different types, but all connected to the various phases of marketing of drugs and, in some cases, also of weapons.

They are 26 precautionary measures issued by the investigating judge of the Palermo court, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, carried out at dawn by the Police between Licata, Gela, Catania and Campobello di Licata.

The operation began after, in October 2020, a suspect from Licata was the protagonist of two episodes - one in Licata and the other in Gela - characterized by the use of weapons. The investigations revealed that, with the family of his attacker, the alleged head of the Licatese organization would have started a “pact” for the marketing of narcotics, especially cocaine.
