Terme Vigliatore: they try to rob a bank branch, the Carabinieri arrest a 33-year-old.
The Carabinieri of the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto Company have arrested a 33-year-old, with a criminal record, presumed responsible for the attempted robbery, which took place yesterday morning at the Unicredit bank branch in Terme Vigliatore.
Following a phone call received at the Operations Center, the Carabinieri carried out an intervention in Terme Vigliatore, at the Unicredit branch, where an attempted robbery had been reported by two individuals who, both with their faces hidden by sunglasses and medical masks of the anti-covid protection type, allegedly entered the bank following a woman who, for a few moments, was taken hostage by the two criminals.
The Carabinieri of the local station and the Operations Section of the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto Company intervened on the spot and, on the basis of the statements collected and the analysis of the footage from the surveillance cameras installed in the branch and in the surrounding areas, they started an investigative activity that allowed them to document the dynamics of the attempted robbery and acquire circumstantial evidence against the two alleged perpetrators, as well as to identify the car, which later turned out to be a rental, used by the two robbers both to reach the scene of the crime and for the escape, which apparently occurred when the two criminals learned, from the bank employees themselves, that the opening of the safe is regulated by time and that they would not be able to withdraw money.
A particularly important clue emerged from the search of the car used in the robbery, inside which the Carabinieri also found some clothes that are probably the same ones worn by the 33-year-old arrested at the time he allegedly committed the crime.
The 33-year-old was then tracked down in the afternoon by the Carabinieri, who took him to the barracks for further investigations, at the end of which he was arrested and, subsequently, confined in the local prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. The investigations, coordinated by the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto Public Prosecutor's Office, led by Prosecutor Giuseppe Verzera, are now aimed at tracing the identity of the second author of the crime.
