Milazzo: Carabinieri drug checks, three arrests

On charges of possession for the purpose of dealing in narcotics, three individuals, already known to the Police for specific precedents, were arrested by the Carabinieri of the Milazzo Company who, with the support of the anti-drug dogs of the Carabinieri Canine Units of Nicolosi and Palermo Villagrazia, set up an anti-drug service with searches and checks throughout the territory of competence.

In Milazzo, the Carabinieri arrested a 38-year-old local man who, while checking on foot the area usually frequented by drug users, was searched and found with over 23 grams of crack on him and more than 500 euros in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing. The subsequent house search also allowed the military to find approximately 20 grams of marijuana, a dose of cocaine and material presumably used for packaging the drug. In the house, a complex video surveillance system was also discovered, installed with the presumed purpose of observing the movements in front of the house and evading possible checks by the Police Forces.

In Spadafora, however, following some house searches carried out on their own initiative, the military arrested two other individuals from the area. In particular, at the home of a 22-year-old, over 35 grams of marijuana, approximately 12 grams of hashish and a precision scale soaked in drug residue were found. In the home of a 37-year-old, currently under house arrest, the Carabinieri instead found approximately 19 grams of hashish, hidden in a kitchen cabinet.

Furthermore, during the service, a young man was reported to the Prefecture of Messina as a user, having been found in possession of a dose of crack held for personal use.

The drugs found during the activities were seized and handed over to the Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina for the relevant laboratory analyses.

The 38-year-old was taken to the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto prison and the other two individuals arrested, at the end of the formal procedures, were placed under house arrest at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, awaiting trial for the crimes charged to them.

Through the planning of specific anti-drug services, coordinated, in synergy, with the competent Public Prosecutors of Messina and Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, particularly attentive to prosecuting such crimes, the Carabinieri of the Milazzo Company, will continue to operate throughout the territory of competence, both with activities aimed at dissuading ill-intentioned people from committing crimes connected to the sale of narcotics, and through meetings in schools of all levels, functional to sharing the risks connected to the use of psychotropic substances, within the scope of the initiatives to spread the culture of legality promoted by the Carabinieri.
