Messina: “The School of Theatre” Brings Shows and Workshops to the Outskirts
From December 14th to 31st, the Carullo - Minasi Company is organizing a widespread theater festival with 8 shows for families and an intergenerational ecological painting workshop.
Messina: “The School of Theater” brings shows and workshops to the suburbs.
The Carullo – Minasi Company in collaboration with Sciara progetti APS – ETS, organizes “La scuola del teatro”, supported by the Municipality of Messina and by the FUS (Single Fund for Entertainment) funds of the Ministry of Culture, with the aim of promoting live performances in peripheral urban areas.
The activities proposed by Cristiana Minasi and Giuseppe Carullo, directors/actors/pedagogues, founders of the homonymous theatre company active since 2010, will take place in the City of the Strait in the month of December and will start from the courtyard of the Pascoli – Crispi school, then reach the Gravitelli triangle and end in Largo Seggiola (in front of the Lux Cinema).
In particular, from Saturday 14 December to Tuesday 31 December the “Festival di Teatro Diffuso” is scheduled, with 8 live shows (of a multidisciplinary nature, ranging from music, to circus, to theatrical prose) for children and families, with particular attention to grandparents given the strong focus on traditional themes.
This is the calendar of events that will always start at 11.30 with free admission:
– Saturday 14th December “The Christmas Wheel” by Marco Previtera Circus: Circus show and workshop to get to know the circus techniques used in the show. At the Crispi School Courtyard, Piazza San Vicenzo/Piazza Casa Pia;
– Sunday 15th December “Antonino Cicero Bassoon Duo”: Musical Show and Workshop to get to know the Instrument. At Cavea Botanical Garden, Piazza XX Settembre;
– Saturday 21th December Merlina Duo Bandoneon (Argentina). Musical Show and Workshop to approach the knowledge of the Instrument and the history and traditional culture of Argentina. At Cavea Botanical Garden, Piazza XX Settembre;
– Thursday, December 26 “Giorgioliere. The Failures of Christmas”: Circus show and workshop to introduce the circus techniques used in the show.

-Friday 27th December “An Extraordinary World” (Teatro Patafisico, Palermo): Children's show and workshop on the tricks of theatrical staging. At the Courtyard of the Paino Gravitelli School;
– Saturday 28th December “Stories of Brave Girls” (Teatro Patafisico, Palermo) Performance for children and workshop on theatrical objects. At the Courtyard of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Piazza XX Settembre;
– Monday 30 December A Christmas Carol: children's show and theatre writing workshop. At Cortile Scienze Politiche. At Cortile della Scuola Paino Gravitelli;
– Tuesday 31 December “Christmas Gifts”: Circus and juggling for children and a workshop to approach the themes of ecological politics. Area in front of the Lux cinema, Largo Seggiola.
Furthermore, the Botanical Garden of Messina Sunday 15 and Saturday 21 December from 10.00 to 11.25 (before the start of the shows), will host “NaturArte”, a Painting and Ecology workshop linked to the theme of the Plant, aimed at an intergenerational comparison between grandchildren and grandparents.
The workshop will be curated by the painter Manuela Caruso and will be held in the presence of a Painter, a Storyteller and the Professors of Botany of the University of Messina.
