Messina: Speed camera and “scout” device checks until Sunday 9 February
The Municipal Police Corps Command has ordered the continuation of speed control services with speed cameras, with a view to preventing road accidents, and with the “scout” device for detecting violations of the Highway Code regarding parking restrictions. The services are carried out from Monday 3 February, until Sunday 9 February 2025, alternatively on the roads most affected by traffic.
Il Speed camera check will affect State Road 114 Giampilieri from km. 15,000 to km. 15,700; State Road 113 San Saba from km. 26,000 to km. 26,600; State Road 113 Spartà from km. 21,400 to km. 22,400; State Road 113 Mortelle from km. 11,700 to km. 12,200; Via Circuito Torre Faro; Via Consolare Pompea from km. 7,500 to km. 8,000; Viale Giostra, in the section between Via San Jachiddu and the Maiorana school; State Road 114 Pistunina from km. 5,200 to km. 5,800; State Road 114 Galati from km. 9,100 to km. 10,000; State Road 114 Briga Marina from km. 13,100 to km. 13,700; State Road 114 Giampilieri Marina from km. 15,000 to km. 15,700.
Il Scout device will monitor the Strada Statale 114, in the section between the Zafferia junction and the “Alfio Ragazzi” roundabout; via Marco Polo; viale S. Martino, from Villa Dante to Piazza Cairoli A/R; via Industriale, Samperi – S. Cecilia section; via La Farina, between Via S. Cosimo and Via Cannizzaro A/R; Piazza Duomo, pedestrian area; viale della Libertà, between Giostra and Prefettura and between the Annunziata roundabout and Giostra A/R; viale Boccetta, in the Garibaldi – Viale Principe Umberto A/R section; via Palermo; Corso Garibaldi, Prefettura-Cairoli A/R section; via T. Cannizzaro, Corso Cavour – Viale Italia A/R section; and Piazza della Repubblica.
The Municipal Police Command recommends that motorists respect the speed limits on all roads, as speeding is one of the causes that most affects the severity of road accidents; and also invites them to observe the rules of the road, in particular avoiding double parking, on sidewalks, in preferential lanes, along cycle paths and near pedestrian crossings.
