Prato: Former security guard accused of abuse at colon hydrotherapy practice: house arrest.

On the morning of December 4th the Prato State Police carried out the precautionary measure of arrest towards a man of , former security guard, who carried out practices of colon hydrotherapy inside a medical practice in the city run by his wife, a doctor specializing in endoscopy.

The measure was ordered by Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the request of Public Prosecutor's Office of Prato, following the results of the investigations conducted by the Flying Squad.

Unauthorized practice of the profession and alleged sexual abuse of patients

According to the investigators' reconstruction, the man would have carried out medical activities without any qualification, coming into contact with female patients during the invasive colon cleansing procedure.

The suspect would appear to have committed acts of sexual violence at least on three patients, two of whom have already found the courage to report what they suffered.

The practice of colon hydrotherapy, advertised on social media by the owner of the practice as a medical treatment for intestinal well-being, involves significant risks, including perforation of the colon, and requires specific professional skills that humans did not possess.

The alleged crimes are: unauthorized practice of medicine and sexual violence for the 53 year old, while his wife is accused of participation in the unauthorized exercise, as she would have directed and guided the activity of her husband and collaborators.

Medical office with poor hygiene: Local Health Authority (USL) investigations underway

During the execution of the precautionary measure, the police found conditions in the studio precarious hygienic-sanitary conditions, now under examination by the competent offices of the USL Toscana Centro.

They were also found probes intended for use abandoned near a garbage bin, a factor that further aggravates the picture of the illicit activity.

In light of what has emerged, the Prosecutor's Office invites any other victims those who have suffered abuse or bullying during the sessions to report the incidents to the Prato Flying Squad.
