Late yesterday evening, in Scanzano Jonico, on the railway stretch between Terzo Cavone and the city centre, a freight train coming from Taranto, headed to Reggio Calabria, hit a shape that forced the convoy to stop in order to ascertain and rule out that it was not a person.
The intervention of the Carabinieri of the local Carabinieri Company was immediate, assisted by the Fire Brigade of the Policoro Detachment, precautionally supported by the 118 personnel. However, the timely intervention and the investigations followed by the railway blockade made it possible to avoid the serious accident and ascertain the investment of a wild boarTrain traffic resumed regularly after about an hour.
