Policoro: Carabinieri arrest suspected drug dealer during extraordinary checks to combat drug dealing.

The extraordinary territorial control services carried out by the Carabinieri of the Policoro Company continue, aimed at repressing crimes related to narcotics, especially in places where young people gather and meet.

As part of these services, along the SS 407 – Basentana, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Policoro Company, after a brief pursuit of a car that did not stop at the military checkpoint, proceeded to check a 63-year-old, resident in the Marconia district of Pisticci.

The man, without a driving license, during the chase, had thrown a package out of the window, immediately recovered by the military, which contained 54 grams of cocaine, from which 10 doses ready for sale had already been packaged.

The subsequent personal and home search allowed the discovery and seizure of 510,00 euros in banknotes of various denominations, a further dose of cocaine, material for weighing and packaging the drug. He was therefore arrested and, by order of the Public Prosecutor on duty of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Matera, transferred to his home, under house arrest.

The Preliminary Investigation Judge of the Court of Matera, after having validated the arrest, agreeing with the prosecution's case, ordered the precautionary custody under house arrest.

The result achieved is the fruit of the incessant and widespread action of territorial control carried out by the Arma according to proven methods to prevent and combat the various forms of illegality, even in areas with low population density, but still affected by widespread phenomena such as, in this specific case, drug dealing and consumption.
