Marche: Approximately 1.500.000 euros in funding allocated for the defense of the territory and the mitigation of hydrogeological risk following catastrophic events
The Marche Region has financed the Municipalities for a sum of approximately 1.500.000 euros for the defense of the territory and the mitigation of hydrogeological risk following calamitous events (in implementation of Legislative Decree 1010 of 1948). This is made known Councillor for Civil Protection Stefano Aguzzi which explains: “These are small interventions, also called 'emergency interventions' carried out by the Region through civil engineers or by municipalities and in the future also other bodies, for urgent and unavoidable works determined by calamitous events, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, landslides, cloudbursts, storm surges, avalanches and other natural disasters.".
The Region contributes in this way, he adds Sharp "at the urgent problem solving with the financing of works of a general temporary nature for the restoration of services and the elimination of dangerous situations, often while waiting for the problem to be definitively eliminated with subsequent structural interventions to be designed and financed. The resources deployed by the Marche Region provide an effective response to the territory, managing to substantially satisfy all the requests that arrive“. With this tool “it puts the local authority in a position to quickly resolve small but substantial critical issues without too many formalities even for the execution of the works, often carried out under a regime of extreme urgency and in any case, given the amounts, subject to the simplified procedures provided for by the public procurement code" adds the councilor Sharp.
Particularly the works may include shoring up, demolition, clearance and other works to protect public safety; temporary restoration of transit, aqueducts and other sanitary works, limited to works essential to safeguard public hygiene; construction of shelters for poor people left homeless. 2024 interventions were financed during 31 in Municipalities distributed substantially throughout the territory. The assignment occurs on the basis of reports of critical issues by the Municipalities, which are examined by the offices and assessed as consistent with the regulatory provisions before being financed.Monitoring over the years confirms the effectiveness and usefulness of this tool to support the territory.
