“In the Marche, Sport is Tourism” was the theme of the meeting at the BIT in Milano, which was attended by Chiara Biondi, Councillor for Sport of the Marche Region, Fabio Moon, president of CONI Marche, and Roberto Novelli, vice president of the Marche Paralympic Committee.

“Sport is of great importance for the Marche, thanks to its extraordinary athletes who transmit fundamental values ​​such as inclusion, solidarity and teamwork”Said Chiara Biondi. “It is a real 'life gym' to which the Region dedicates maximum attention, investing resources to make sporting activity accessible to all, regardless of age and disabilities”.

In this regard, the councilor announced the Regional Sports Program 2025, which provides for an allocation of over 3 million euros to encourage and support physical activity in all its forms. The program aims to:

  • Promote the spread of sport and simplify access to sports activities for families
  • Improving sports facilities, with funds earmarked for the redevelopment of the structures
  • Promote sports tourism through events of national and international importance

“In the Marche, sport is tourism”, Biondi underlined, "not only in the planning of events, but also in the valorization of our territory through sport. The testimonials of the Region are internationally renowned athletes, and it is with the support of CONI and CIP that we work to make sport an element of inclusion and well-being for the entire community".

Sport and tourism: a driving force for the economy

The link between sport and tourism was also reiterated by Fabio Moon, which highlighted how major sporting events bring significant economic benefits to the territory. “Every year, the Marche region hosts a busy calendar of sporting events that attract athletes, staff, families and a large audience of fans. This generates significant economic benefits”, explained the president of CONI Marche. “Organising national or international sporting events helps to make our territory known and promote sports tourism”.

An important event will be the 2026 Winter Olympic Torch Relay, That the 4 January 2026 will stop at Ancona in view of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics Milano-Curtain.

Furthermore, the 2025 will mark another important recognition for the Marche, XNUMX Ascoli Piceno proclaimed “European City of Sport”. This title, awarded by ACES Europe, will help to give further impetus to the city and the entire Piceno and regional territory.
