Attacks on healthcare workers in Mantua and Asola
Two episodes of violence against health workers have recently occurred in Mantua and Asola, with one of the attackers reported for assault and the other for threats
Attacks on healthcare workers in Mantua and Asola
At the Emergency Department of the Poma Hospital in Mantua, an accident occurred yet another attack on healthcare personnel. A 37-year-old professional nurse from Porto Mantovano, on duty that night, she was attacked by a person present at the entrance to the triage, who was complaining about the wait. The same man hit the nurse in the face by punching her. She was forced to go to the doctor present at the Emergency Room, who reported the injuries she had suffered and judged her to be curable in 8 days of prognosis. The man, a 70 year old resident in Mantua, was denounced by the Carabinieri of the Porto Mantovano Station because it was considered responsible for the crime of aggravated injury to healthcare personnel.
Similar attack, but fortunately without any physical contact, occurred at the Civil Hospital of Asola on January 28th. A 36 year old of Canneto sull'Oglio, transported to that hospital for having abused alcohol, during triage he threatened to kill a health workerA crew from the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Castiglione delle Stiviere Company intervened on site. Following the filing of a complaint by the 35-year-old healthcare worker, the Carabinieri of the Bozzolo Station they reported the person deemed responsible of the crime of aggravated threat.
