Mantua, 18 thousand euros to support nursery schools

Mantua, the Municipality of Mantua, the first and only capital in Italy to have made municipal nursery schools free for all, with the council resolution of Wednesday 10 June has further support for affiliated private nursery schools has also increased.

The Palazzi Administration therefore proceeds with the measures envisaged in the Mantua Plan, to support the activities affected by the Covid-19 emergency.
In the Council meeting on Wednesday 10 June, the Administration approved the granting of contributions to private nursery schools already affiliated with the Municipality of Mantua, for the 2019/2020 educational year, through the allocation of a further portion of the national fund for integrated system of education and instruction services for 0-6 years.
The measure, included in the Mantua Plan, consists of financial support provided to the managing bodies of 18.000 euros to partially cover the fees not received due to the Covid-19 emergency in the months of April, May and June 2020, to be divided between the six affiliated nurseries in proportion to the enrolled children residing in the Municipality of Mantua. The nursery schools affected by the measure are "Arcobaleno", "Ape Maya", "Le Coccole", "Nel Parco", "Ida ed Edgardo Bianchi" and "Mago Merlino".
“We are helping all sectors, families and activities – said the mayor Mattia Palazzi -. Many Italian Municipalities are asking us for our measures, demonstrating that the Mantua plan has become an example for many Municipalities".

A contribution of 18.000 euros which is added to others already allocated by the Administration, such as that of 25.000 euros to cover the costs of nursery schools in the month of March and the 35.000 euros provided with the agreement that the Municipality has stipulated with private nursery schools to reduce the the amount of the fees. We remind you that for municipal nursery schools the fees have been eliminated by the Administration.

“The Municipal Administration – said the Councilor for Public Education Marianna Pavesi – deems it necessary to continue to financially support the private nursery schools affiliated with the Municipality of Mantua, aware of the serious damage suffered due to the closure due to the Covid-19 emergency . A new measure that adds to many others already implemented by our Administration as part of the Mantua Plan".
This resolution was adopted taking into account that the continuation of the period of suspension of the activity of educational institutions puts at risk the very maintenance of the many services, in particular the broad fabric of private ones and private nursery schools, with a strong impact on daily life of families, on the growth of children and on the development of the system aimed at the zero to six year age group.

Mantua plan. New 70 thousand euro measure for tourism, free parking for tourist buses all summer
The Palazzi Administration, as part of the Mantua Plan, has approved a new measure which has the aim of encouraging tourism in our city by providing for the total free transit and parking passes for tourist buses, for the entire summer period, that is, until September 30th.
The fare was 40 euros for buses up to seven meters, while for those over seven meters it was 80 euros. The free provision will therefore result in the Municipality losing approximately 20.000 euros per month for a total of approximately 70.000 euros.
An important figure which, however, the Administration considered useful and necessary for the relaunch of the city and for the good of activities linked to tourism and commerce.
“We have met the requests of the Tourist Guides and the Trade Associations – underlined the councilor for the Local Police Iacopo Rebecchi – by providing, within the Mantua Plan, aimed at relaunching the city, the total free ticket for the tourist buses. Week after week we are returning to normality and even tourists are starting to visit our city again. The free entry of tourist buses will constitute a further incentive to attract numerous and organized groups to Mantua whose presence is essential for the economy of the many operators in the tourism sector who live and operate in our city. Tourism in Mantua also constitutes an economic driving force for all the commercial activities of the city".
