Macerata, Operation “Safe Schools”: prevention and fight against drug use and dealing.
The Carabinieri of the Macerata Company, as part of the “SAFE SCHOOLS” Operation, carried out a specific and detailed control service as part of the activity of preventing and combating the consumption and dealing of narcotic substances near schools.
Targeted checks were carried out outside in the immediate vicinity of school buildings as well as in the vicinity of bus stops and/or termini, the railway station as well as in places of greatest passage.
In particular, the service involved secondary schools and was operated by the Macerata, Pollenza and Corridonia stations together with the Pesaro Dog Unit which intervened with two anti-drug units.
After the aforementioned operations, the device deployed by the Carabinieri, on this occasion reinforced by a patrol car from the Macerata Radiomobile Unit, concentrated on the places where young people usually gather most frequently, monitoring the phenomena in question.
The checks were then extended to the Diaz gardens and the Fonte Scodella park, after which checkpoints were set up on the main roads both in the suburbs – in Piediripa – and in the historic centre – in front of the Sferisterio, in front of the monument to the Fallen and in via Indipendenza – to control road traffic.
Ultimately, 12 targets were monitored and supervised, while 44 people were identified – mostly students – of which 10 were foreigners and 30 cars/motorcycles were checked.
A motorist was charged with an administrative fine of €172 for a violation of the highway code, relating to driving with a test license plate registered to another person.
Instead, yesterday morning, the Cingoli Station, similarly to what was done today, as part of an ordinary preventive control service in that historic center, carried out a targeted activity to prevent and combat school dropouts, combing through the places most frequented by students who are used to "skipping school".
