Computer Fraud: 38-Year-Old Caserta Man Reported for Online Fraud
The Carabinieri of the Apiro Station, following an investigative activity started after the filing of a complaint, have a 38 year old reported resident in the province of Caserta for the crime of computer fraud. The investigation began with the complaint of a citizen who, interested in purchasing an engine for his minicar, had carried out an online search and made contact with an individual who had pretended to be an employee of a company specializing in the sale of mechanical materials.
The plaintiff, convinced of the legitimacy of the purchase, made the payment via a bank transfer of 400 euros, but did not receive either the goods or the refund of the amount paid. Thanks to careful investigative activity and tracking of financial flows, The Carabinieri identified the IBAN to which the money had been transferred, tracing it back to a rechargeable prepaid card registered to the suspect. The elements collected led to the 38-year-old reported for computer fraud. The Carabinieri remind citizens of pay close attention when shopping online, always checking the reliability of the sellers and being wary of suspiciously advantageous offers.
