The Carabinieri arrest three watch stealers from Forte dei Marmi.
They chose their victims by going for a walk along the streets of the center of famous tourist resorts. They followed them on foot until they reached streets with little traffic, where they attacked them, snatching their watches from their wrists (Rolex, Patek Philippe or Audemars Piguet) and then quickly moved away along the surrounding streets, where the accomplice recovered them with a rented car with documents later turned out to be false.
They were determined and violent, in some cases resistance was offered and they did not hesitate to violently throw their victim to the ground, causing injuries and much fear.
There are at least seven cases contested by the Carabinieri of the Forte dei Marmi Command, which occurred between Forte dei Marmi, Marina di Pietrasanta and Santa Margherita Ligure following which the criminals were identified as perpetrators of theft of watches worth total of approximately 400.000 Euros.
At the end of a laborious investigation conducted with patient viewing of numerous municipal and private video surveillance videos, analysis of telephone records and objective evidence collected on site, it was possible to identify them and obtain against them the precautionary custody orders issued by the Court of Lucca, at the request of the local Prosecutor's Office.
The gang was made up of guys below 30 years of Moroccan origin, illegal immigrants in the national territory and homeless, hosted by friends and relatives of Milano and Pinerolo (TO), the place from which they left to carry out the attacks and returned aboard rented vehicles with false documents. The first to be arrested was a 21-year-old Moroccan who was served with an order in April with serious charges against him.
This morning the Carabinieri, in collaboration with the personnel of the inter-force office "SCIP - International Police Cooperation Service" of the Police and Customs Cooperation Centres of Ventimiglia and Rome, managed to track down the accomplices, two Moroccans aged 27 and 22, the first in Gassin in France and the second in Topas in Spain arrested under the European Arrest Warrant issued against them and requested by the Carabinieri themselves.
