Lucca: Steals three cars but is caught by CCTV footage, 53-year-old arrested
The Carabinieri of the Altopascio Station have precautionary measure executed of the obligation to reside in the municipality of Altopascio, with the prescription to remain at home from 21:00 pm to 06:00 am, against a 53-year-old resident of Altopascio, a do-nothing, already burdened by several previous convictions for property crimes. Thanks to an investigation carried out by the Carabinieri of the Altopascio Station, which lasted approximately four months, the man was identified as the perpetrator of several thefts from parked vehicles, in particular:
- of the theft on a Fiat Punto car, which occurred on the morning of August 7th in the via del Valico di Altopascio, during which a wallet containing the victim's ATM card and various documents, as well as approximately 70 euros in cash, was stolen. In this circumstance, the 53-year-old, after stealing the wallet, went to an ATM and he made three separate withdrawals of 250,00 with the robbed person's ATM card;
- of the theft on a Mercedes Vito minibus, which occurred on the morning of October 4th in the Ponte ai Pini area of Altopascio, during which two suitcases containing electronic equipment for mechatronics diagnostics, worth approximately 5000,00 euros, had been stolen;
- of the theft of a Fiat 600 car, which occurred in the early afternoon of October 9th in Via Roma in Altopascio, during which a bag containing the victim's personal documents and 450,00 euros in cash was stolen.
The investigations conducted through the acquisition of images from commercial activity cameras and the city video surveillance system, which were integrated with numerous stakeout and shadowing services against the suspect, allowed us to gather serious evidence of guilt against the 53-year-old in relation to the crimes of aggravated theft and improper use of payment instruments, for which he was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lucca which coordinated the investigative activities.
