Price of wheat: the meeting between Confagricoltura Bari-Bat and the Region
In agriculture, Made in Italy is a model: “We must do everything to preserve our productions and their quality, in order to protect the final consumer”. These are the words of Massimiliano del Core, president of Confagricoltura Bari-Bat a few days before the meeting scheduled in Altamura, with the president of the Agriculture Commission, Francesco Paolicelli.
The 14 February in fact, the organization will meet the president of the commission to talk about the price of wheat and the phenomenon linked to economic dumping, which, over the years, has led to the weakening of the country's labor market and production.
The entry of raw materials from abroad for some productions is necessary. “There are productions that receive a higher demand than actual productions – explains Del Core – a supply of materials from third countries is therefore necessary. The problem is not using them, but checking that there are all the guarantees for the protection and health of people. This is why we constantly ask our members to be as clear as possible with their customers: indicating the origin of the products on the labels."
If on the one hand Confagricoltura asks for maximum clarity from its members to its consumers, on the other hand it hopes that those who carry out customs checks, where they transit Raw materials for market necessity, do it correctly.
“I hope that there is continuous collaboration between institutions, law enforcement agencies and entrepreneurs in order to be correct also following the logic of the market, which allows the use of raw materials from abroad – continues Del Core – What as Confagricoltura Bari-Bat we have done and will continue to do is to guarantee our members competitiveness on the market by respecting the regulations in force, in order above all to guarantee the final consumer and the quality of the products".
