Vicenza: “Am I in? Business effort!” the project that involved 120 girls and boys for the inclusion and care of common goods.
"I'm in? Hard work!” it ended with the involvement of 120 boys and girls who carried out activities of care of common goods for four weeks from 1 to 26 July, from Monday to Friday, in the morning from 8.30 to 12.30, with the coordination of Tangram social cooperative and with the collaboration of the Municipality of Vicenza and Amcps.
The boys were divided into 12 teams of ten members, each flanked by a handyman, the "all-rounder" figure foreseen by the project, and by a tutor.
The project that has been going on for six years has a dimension intergenerational, in which they promote the value of effort, the educational investment in summer time, lthe size of the group and the care and protection of common goods.
The project confirms the collaboration with the Provincial Autism Coordination of Vicenza (ABAut – ABA for Autism, ANGSA Veneto Onlus, Autismo Triveneto Onlus, Gruppo Asperger Veneto) which also promotes participation boys and girls with autism spectrum disorders.
«This year's edition, for which we thank all the entities involved, had as its objective the interaction - comments the councilor for youth policies Leonardo Nicolai – among young people first of all, with greater attention to fragility and in particular with the involvement of young people with autism spectrum syndrome, and young people with the city. Furthermore, the collaboration involved more than just that activities in school gardens but also along city streets. Among all, I remember the splendid work done in the creation of the mural of the former milk plant, which was particularly appreciated by the residents of the neighborhood who actively interacted with the kids during the days of activity, demonstrating their appreciation of the initiative."
In the first week, 30 boys and girls were involved, divided into three teams who took care of three different places in the city: in the park in via Giuriato they dedicated themselves to painting the benches, in the Barolini lower secondary school in S. Pio X to the sanding and painting of the external railing, in the playground of the Laghetto neighborhood to the maintenance of benches and giostrine.
In the second week, three teams of ten boys and girls were involved at the Dal Sasso nursery school in Santa Bertilla, at the Peronato nursery school in Saviabona and at the O. Tretti ai Ferrovieri nursery school. The work carried out was varied: repainting of railings, doors, internal classrooms dedicated to children, external walls with the colors of the rainbow and benches.
In the last two weeks, another 60 boys and girls, 6 tutors and 4 handymen have been involved.
In the week of July 15th the work took place at the Giuliari nursery school in San Bortolo, in the public park in via Europa.
Furthermore, they painted the external wall of the former Milk Plant located in Via Mentana with the colors of peace for a surface area of 100 square metres, also decorating the former gate. In addition to experimenting with colors and brushes, the boys also carried out the cleaning and preparation of the wall.
During the week of July 22nd, however, the internal and external areas of the Rumor nursery schools have been renovated (Villaggio del Sole), Dal Sasso (Santa Bertilla) and San Gaetano (Polegge).
The work carried out by the various teams included the installation of wooden and iron benches, the arrangement of green areas and the repainting of children's classrooms and external walls.
The Municipality and Amcps supported the inclusion of three boys with autism spectrum disorders in the project with 2.100 euros, tripling the funds, equal to 700 euros, previously invested. By guaranteeing the support of qualified operators, this allocation has therefore made it possible to increase the participation of young people with this disorder, which in this edition went from one to three.
