Verona: the 2024st continuous training course for women in city government will begin in November 1.

It is evident to all that it is a historic novelty: the female protagonism in many areas of the world of work and beyond.
A presence that It can't just be a passing phenomenon: hence the need to train and inform – women and men – of the existence of thoughts and practices different from those we usually know, which are now ineffective.

"Indeed, - as explained by Annarosa Buttarelli, Educational Coordinator of the Course and Scientific Director of the Fondazione Scuola di Alta Formazione Donne di Governo,– the patriarchy, which has dominated for millennia, is no longer the regulator of social ties, although political, cultural and religious institutions still function according to monosexual male logics and are crossed by an often unconscious misogyny. The problem is to find themselves trained to face the contemporary crisis of the institutions and work for a change of civilization. The hope is that other Municipalities of Veneto can grasp the importance of the initiative and replicate it”.

In this scenario, we must therefore develop the awareness that no institutional reform can be effective if a new coexistence between men and women is not created, guided by the necessary transformations of democratic institutions, and also of decision-making and entrepreneurial logics, which are also renewable with the different female experience.

“We are very happy to sponsor and support with our resources this important continuing education course that aims to train and inform those who are interested, both women and men, about the new female protagonism in the institutions governing cities, creating awareness and transversal knowledge especially in the younger generations about the value that female energies can bring to the institutional, political and civil dynamics of cities”, says the deputy mayor and councilor for gender equality Barbara Bissoli.

The Administration participates by financing the participation in the course by 5 employees of the Municipality.

“There is great satisfaction for this further step between the University and the Municipality of Verona- adds the director of the Course and of the Department of Human Sciences Riccardo Panattoni– An essential contribution for the university, which must and can carry forward the transformation also within its own institution, keeping in mind that the great challenge is to also engage the male part in this transformation”.

Course
The 1-hour Continuing Education Course that the University of Verona is organizing in agreement with the University of Verona will take place from 2024 November 28 to 2025 February 60. Foundation School of Higher Education Women in Government and the patronage of the Municipality of Verona, on Friday afternoons, on a weekly basis. The deadline for registration is set for October 1st, the course will start once the minimum number of 25 registrations is reached.

The topics covered will concern the'historical framework of women who have lived in the political sphere in their reality, the legal system, public administration, women's entrepreneurial practices, artificial intelligence with digital devices, and public language. These are the modules scheduled: regeneration of democracy and women; the necessary changes in the legal system; public administration and business practices; democratic science, artificial intelligence, digital devices; the public language that transforms coexistence.

Scientific Committee
The scientific committee of the Course is composed of Prof. Riccardo Panattoni, Full Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Verona, Prof. Olivia Guaraldo, Full Professor of Political Philosophy at the Department of Human Sciences at the University of Verona, Prof. Alessandra Cordiano, Associate Professor of Private Law at the University of Verona, and Prof. Annarosa Buttarelli, philosopher and scientific director of the Higher Education School for Women in Government.

In addition to the scientific committee, the various modules that make up the course will be attended by Barbara Bissoli, deputy mayor of Verona and lawyer, Luisa Pogliana, former top manager and trainer, Giovanna Piaia, former councilor of the Municipality of Ravenna and President of the Fondazione Scuola di Alta Formazione Donne di Governo, Alessia Rotta, councilor of the Municipality of Verona and vice president of the Autostrada del Brennero company, Francesco Varanini, director of MIT Italia, Rosella Prezzo, philosopher and essayist, Massimiliano Panarari, journalist.
