The region organizes the "General States of Cinema" in Syracuse.
The professionals of the international audiovisual sector will meet in the spring of 2024 in Sicily for the “General States of Cinema”, a three-day discussion promoted and organized by the Sicilian Region. The event will be held from 12 to 14 April on the island of Ortigia, in Syracuse between the Maniace castle, Beneventano del Bosco palace, Borgia del Casale palace and will result in a moment of listening and discussion for all professionals in the supply chain. The most important stakeholders in the film sector will participate, including the main production companies, the various film commissions operating in the national territory, the main film festivals (Venice and Cannes), the Nastri d'Argento and the David di Donatello with all the trade associations.
«We will bring the world of cinema to Sicily. The island is establishing itself as an open-air set capable of attracting significant international film productions which translate into important satellite activities in the area. To this end, we are planning the development of specific skills through specific training courses aimed above all at young people" declares the president of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani.
Many topics will be covered: tax credit, independent cinema, productions intended for the general public, technological industries, the planning of an entirely Sicilian cinema.

It is no coincidence that the Tripadvisor portal has placed Sicily in first place in the film and TV series locations to visit this year. The States General will therefore be an opportunity in the industry to strengthen the centrality of the Island which has animated hundreds of film sets and has been the muse of great directors, from Tornatore to Francis Ford Coppola, from Salvatores to Woody Allen" declares the 'Entertainment Councillor, Elvira Beloved, who is organizing the event.
During the three days, spaces will also be dedicated to the technological industries, which due to their peculiar connotation will revolutionize the creative industries of the future, and to the debate on the use of artificial intelligence. We will also talk about the economic impact on the area generated by large film productions like the latest one "Indiana Jones" and television series such as "The White Lotus", set in Taormina in the second season, "The Leopard" e “The Lions of Sicily”. The most authoritative personalities in the sector will take part in the rich program of panels and meetings on central topics for the film industry.
