The City of Milano invites you to donate blood even during the summer
Welfare and Health Councilor Lamberto Bertolé visited the Avis headquarters in Lambrate today, to meet and thank the operators and donors which, even in a complex period such as the summer, they do not fail to provide their support.
In summer, due to high temperatures and holiday departures, it occurs, in fact, a physiological decline in donations which puts city hospitals in crisis and causes a reduction which, compared to the month of June, stands at around 20% in July and 50% in August, According to Avis data.
“Patients in hospital facilities – declares councilor Bertolé – they do not go on holiday during the summer period and the blood requirement remains unchanged. This is why I appeal to all citizens to book and make their donation before going on holiday; a gesture that can save lives, but which is also useful for careful and constant monitoring of one's health. In fact, each donor will be able to take advantage of a series of free tests that will give them an overall picture of their conditions."
According to Avis data relating to the decade 2009-2018, thanks to blood chemistry tests carried out on the occasion of donation, on 47.966 people it was possible detect over 1600 communicable, non-communicable, autoimmune and congenital diseases in asymptomatic donors.
