“The project is the result of our Administration's desire to involve and involve citizens in following good habits on a daily basis in order to encourage a culture sensitive to sustainability issues. With this initiative we want to identify and consequently reward those who demonstrate that they put 'good' habits into practice. We think that, as administrators, it is our duty not only to keep our territory clean and tidy but also to educate citizens to help us do so" commented the mayor Anton Francesco Vivarelli Colonna and the Environment Councillor Erika Vanelli.

The Ecoactive project:

• Premise
  EcoAttivi is a project that rewards the positive behavior of citizens by making available
  of public administrations a simple, effective and powerful tool to stimulate and
  support significant changes in the consolidated habits of citizens. Through EcoAttivi and thanks to the use of coupons, bookmarks, posters, ecostops (which show a unique QRcode) it is possible to reward many actions of collective interest such as the delivery of waste to the ecological island, home composting, sustainable mobility, frequenting of the city's places of interest, book loans in the library and more. The system awards points, manages prize draws, rankings, merit badges and performance indicators, using "gamification" techniques (challenges, missions, rankings) and
  possibility of winning prizes, as tools for user involvement and motivation.
• The Ecoattivi prize competition
  The project includes a national prize competition (with a draw scheduled for April 2024)
  with the prize of an electric vehicle among all the citizens of the municipalities participating in the project. It will also be possible to download the ranking of active citizens to carry out simple but highly motivating actions, such as the delivery of certificates, or the possibility of converting the points earned into discounts on direct demand services.
• The EcoAttivi platform
  The project allows, within the app, to verify the rewarded actions, the points accrued and the available prizes in a simple and effective way. Through the app you can answer quizzes and tests, solve puzzles, invite friends, read unique codes and earn points. Furthermore, the platform manages local and national rankings, challenges and missions, badges, levels and performance indicators, building a stimulating environment by applying reward techniques (games, challenges, missions and rankings).
• Ecostops (reading the QRcode)
  Ecostops identify specific physical points where points can be earned. They are usually represented by A4 or A3 posters showing the QRcode and the usage rule, such as: "40 points once a week per user". Every time a citizen is near the Ecostop and satisfies the rule he will be able to accrue points. They are used, for example, to reward attendance of the Maremma park and attendance of museums and exhibitions and all the cultural structures that have joined the project.
• Coupons and unique bookmarks with qrcode
  The simplest tool used by EcoAttivi are Coupons and Bookmarks, printed on paper
  recycled with a message that promotes positive gestures and with a code to award points. Each Coupon and each Bookmark has a different code from the other, can be read only once by the app and is simultaneously cancelled, crediting the relevant points. The coupons will be delivered to the collection center to certify the delivery of separate recyclable materials. The bookmarks will be distributed in the library or in high schools to reward or encourage reading. Coupons and Bookmarks are very effective communication tools, they convey explicit recognition for the action performed and motivate the user to download the Municipium app and join the community of members.
• Quizzes and puzzles
  Through the App, users will be able to solve quizzes on topics related to sustainability, twice a
  week, improving their knowledge on the subject and obtaining 50 points for the competition.
• The challenges and missions
  Missions or challenges are periodically proposed which identify an objective in a certain period (e.g. two weeks) and a score (e.g. 200 points). If the user manages to reach the goal, he will automatically accrue the points up for grabs.
• Home composting (Ecofoto)
  There is a function in the app that allows those who do home composting to earn points.
  It will be sufficient to indicate the possession and use of your composter via a photo.
• Gamification (gamification) and social
  The project integrates the most effective gamification (gamification) techniques to involve users and spread the project on social media. In particular, each user will see their daily performance, their points balance and their position in the national and municipal rankings displayed.
• LOCAL actions to be rewarded
  Virtuous actions can belong to three main areas of intervention: environmental: Separate waste collection, home composting, waste reduction, energy saving, reduction of water consumption (water houses), Social: Volunteering, associations, blood donation, Cultural: libraries, museums, theatre, concerts, exhibitions, local events. Each action can only be rewarded if it can be documented and combined with the tax code of the virtuous citizen who registered on the platform.
• The role of local economic operators
  Ecoattivi is a project that can be used to support local commerce, recognizing the role of service to the community that the network of services and commerce present in the area exercises. Ecoattivi goes beyond the traditional logic of "one to one" incentive systems based on the assumption that "the more you spend, the more you get rewarded" to affirm the principle "the better you behave, the more you get rewarded". Local commercial activities can join the project for free, in this way they have access to an unconventional marketing system that allows them to retain traditional customers and acquire new customers, to access shared communication tools to support promotional activities and build a circuit of activities that do co-marketing. It is not necessary to ask customers to sign up for a card because Ecoattivi works with the
  own App and ALL citizens who carry out the actions specified in the regulation are automatically entitled to Ecopoints. The commercial activities that participate in the project are published in the app, on the site and on special posters to hang in the shops themselves and are identified by special window decals. The contact activity of traders can be carried out in collaboration with the
  trade associations active in the area. Throughout the duration of the project, a Maggioli operator will manage relationships with traders (email and text message communications, management of ongoing problems, data changes (times, offers, ...) on the app and website, ...).
• Shopping vouchers
  The shopping vouchers are drawn at random from all the tickets earned by the citizens of the Municipality (plus
  points accrued greater chances of winning) in two draws scheduled in October and December.
  Every commercial activity in the Municipality that joins the EcoAttivi project accepts the GOOD
  EXPENSE and will receive the corresponding reimbursement. The amount paid by the Municipality for the year 2023 is €5.000,00, i.e. for 200 vouchers of €25/each.
• Refund to merchants
  The Ecpoattivi project involves the management of a budget for the reimbursement of eco-discounts to
  traders which will be carried out periodically (currently approximately every two months) via
  bank transfer with transmission of summary documentation.
• A versatile and adaptable project
  Ecoattivi is a very versatile project and easily adaptable to the needs of the territory: new
  actions to be rewarded can easily be integrated even after the launch of the project.
  For example, if you want to reward citizens who participate in a specific event, it will be
  simply collect the tax codes with a laptop and a laser reader in an Excel file to send
  then to the Ecoattivi website with the indication of the score to be assigned. This will make it easy to reward cleaning initiatives, bike days, barter events, campaigns against tiger mosquitoes or other initiatives. Ecoattivi is therefore a communication tool to support the policies and initiatives in the area available to the Local Authority.
• The Club of EcoAttivi Municipalities and the community of members
  The Club of EcoAttivi municipalities is an informal community of organizations and citizens who share the commitment to spread the culture and principles of social responsibility and environmental sustainability. The Club's objective is to spread good practices and encourage positive behavior among its residents, both through "gamification" techniques (games, challenges, missions and rankings) and through the awarding of prizes. Sharing values ​​is the main lever that supports the change of consolidated habits and gives meaning and purpose to new lifestyles. Through sharing, a common sense of belonging to the community and to the objectives of protecting the quality of our life is created, guaranteeing sustainability and competitiveness to the area in which we live and work. The community is supported and promoted with a strong customer support activity. It is possible to receive assistance via email for any problem and, following the first contact, also telephone support. Furthermore, communications are regularly sent to all members with advice on how to carry out positive actions and improve their performance.
• Membership of the EcoAttivi Municipalities Club
  Membership gives citizens resident in the municipalities participating in the CLUB the right to participate in the annual draw with an electric vehicle up for grabs. Furthermore, it provides the possibility of delivering to the organization a series of materials (posters, coupons, bookmarks) to reward specific actions such as access to the eco-centre or library and posters to be placed in the area to promote particular activities.
