Sondrio: a new app to discover the city

Promising debut of cultural visits in the program of “Sondrio summer”: the walk “Sondrio 500 years”, which took place Thursday afternoon, sold out.

A proposal introduced on an experimental basis after the success achieved at “Sondrio takes you by the throat”, last April, which was greatly appreciated by the participants.

Ad accompany visitors along the route “Sondrio 500” the deputy mayor and councilor for Productive Activities and Events Francesca Canovi, the councilor for Culture, Education and Instruction Marcella Fratta and the councilor for Twinning, Youth policies and equal opportunities Raffaella Volpatti, with Silvia Bertini, manager of the Municipality of Sondrio.

To welcome the group, in courtyard of Palazzo Pretorio, for the final stage, Mayor Marco Scaramellini was present. Il final farewell it was an opportunity to present the “Visit Sondrio” app, which you can download for free on your devices.

Sondrio 500 yearsIn fact, together with Via dei Palazzi, Wine Route, Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries, the Places of faith, Medieval Sondrio, Sondrio and its hamlets, è one of the seven itineraries to discover Sondrio and the immediate surroundings which, thanks to technology, I am made easily accessible to residents and tourists.

A acting as a common thread is a colourful Sondrio, that of the logo and slogan “Let yourself be surprised”. with information on how to travel along them and places of interest, with descriptions to read or, better yet, listen to with audio guide, , possibility of interacting by taking selfies to remember the experience. For some of the stages yes it can also count on the support of RO, the augmented reality avatar. The Sondrio 500 itinerary, the years as a capital, at the centre of a project financed by the Cariplo Foundation, allows you to walk through the centuries touching historical places, along an urban and extra-urban itinerary.

«We are very happy with the success of this initiative because we believe in sharing culture - stated Councilor Fratta -: in the future we will try to organize ourselves to ensure that our city can offer other moments like this, both because there are many stories to tell and because we believe these opportunities to meet and get to know or rediscover corners of the city are important". «We have joined forces to extend the festive Thursdays to include culture – added councilor Canovi -, and we are very satisfied with the response this proposal has had. I invite you to download the app and use it to discover Sondrio, alone or with friends: it will soon be implemented with other routes and new content".

Along the route of “Sondrio 500 years” sthey meet the silhouettes of the characters who have marked the history of the city, each accompanied by a sign describing their life and role, from which it is possible to connect to the app via a QR code.

Art and technology are at the service of a broader and more engaging use of the city, within a program for valorisation and promotion, wanted by the municipal administration, which focuses on its own historical, naturalistic and food and wine peculiarities.
