Rome, “This is not love”: the State Police advert against violence against women

Since yesterday Saturday 13 July, the State Police relaunches “This is not love”, the permanent communication campaign against gender violence, through one television commercial and on social channels.

The commercial reminds us that violence against women is a phenomenon that concerns us all, everyday, not only when a dramatic event happens, when we celebrate a sad occasion or November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The protagonist of the commercial and the social video is Filomena Di Gennaro, a young, intelligent woman who passed the tests to join the police force.

In 2017 she was violently attacked by her ex-boyfriend that, unable to accept the end of their relationship, he shot her 8 times trying to kill herto. Filomena is survived, lives today in a wheelchair ma this didn't stop her from starting a new life, get married, have children. After meeting a sick love, she has found a healthy one, who helped her overcome the most dramatic moment of her life and who today supports her and encourages her to tell her story in high schools to teach young people not to remain silent in the face of the first signs of toxic love, even when it does not directly concern us. Filomena asks everyone to “not look the other way because we are all involved, as a society as a whole and as individual citizens. Each of us must feel responsible and work so that everyone learns to distinguish sick love from healthy love."

The State Police has always been on the front line to support and protect both those who report as victims and those who report a dangerous situation. These reports are also very important to prevent and combat violence against women. The Police Forces are capable of always intervening with attention, discretion and sensitivity, through highly qualified and trained personnel.

Numerous associations operate alongside the State Police which offer assistance to women victims of violence and represent an irreplaceable network of protection and help that contributes to dealing with the phenomenon.

The 30-second spot will be broadcast on RAI networks and will also be visible on the social channels of the State Police.

It was produced in collaboration with the Information Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
