Liguria Region: Land Protection Councillor appointed “Commissioner ad acta” for works against hydrogeological instability

Green light from the Ministry of Intesa Interim President.

Liguria Region: Land Protection Councillor appointed “Commissioner ad acta” for works against hydrogeological instability.

The government has given the green light, with a decree signed by the Minister of the Environment, and in agreement with the interim president of the Liguria Region, to the appointment of the regional councillor for Soil Protection as 'Commissioner ad acta' for works against hydrogeological instability.

The councilor temporarily replaces the governor, currently suspended from office.
“We assessed together with the councilor and the ministry that this was the best solution – declares the interim president – also in light of the delegations and the great work done to date. The shared objective is to continue completing the interventions already underway and in the implementation of those planned to make Liguria increasingly safe with respect to hydrogeological risk".
“I take on this temporary role while also thanking the president, now suspended from office, for all the work done – declares the councilor for Soil Defense and Civil Protection – with the hope that he can return as soon as possible. I thank the interim president for his trust and the minister for an appointment that is a recognition of what has been achieved in these years, in which we have managed to reach the objectives we had set ourselves, bringing significant resources to the territory for the planning of structural interventions. We have also guaranteed a fundamental contribution in the management of all the emergencies we have had to face, especially from 2018 onwards, allowing the complex civil protection and soil defense system to make a positive leap in quality for the benefit of all citizens. For my part, I guarantee all the commitment we are capable of, even greater than in the past as far as possible: we are perfectly aware of how hydrogeological safety is a key and absolutely central theme for a region as beautiful as it is fragile as Liguria”.
Among the main tasks of the Commissioner, the management, in particular, of the works relating to the construction of the Bisagno torrent spillway and the completion of the complex safety intervention of the Via dell'Amore between Riomaggiore and Manarola, which will be definitively reopened by 'summer.

In the latter case, the Region is the main financier of the work, with a total investment of over 12 million euros against an overall cost of 21,9 millions of euros.

The Via dell'Amore was closed in 2012 following a landslide that injured some foreign tourists. The first section (170 meters, Riomaggiore side) was inaugurated on June 8, 2023 and reopened to the public from July 1st for the whole of last summer until the resumption of the construction site for the completion of the intervention.
