Pesaro presents the new map “Citymap Welcome 2024”
Pesaro 2024 presents the updated version of Pesaro Citymap Welcome, the pocket-sized map designed for to welcome tourists and visitors which has now been expanded to contain 24 points of interest in the city.
New entries are: Sonosfera®, the church of Sant'Ubaldo, the Scavolini Auditorium, the Biosphere, the Pavarotti lido. In the front, focus on the city center with its rich cultural heritage, on the back the Bicipolitana with the routes updated to the last sections. The graphics are signed by Cristiano Andreani (AD and illustrations) with Nico Polidori (map and graphic design).
Created in collaboration with the House of Emerging Technologies of the Municipality of Pesaro CTE Square, the map features the QRcode on the cover which allows citizens and tourists to download the WOM pocket application with which to collect WOM credits, adopted by the administration to recognize the importance of participation.
It is possible to collect WOM by visiting the Pesaro 2024 locations and participating in the events. The WOMs they have no monetary equivalent but they allow you to access the spontaneous offers from shopkeepers, merchants and artisans, announced in the application.
The map is offered in a "classic" folding version (closed format 23×11 cm, open 66,5×46 cm) and in the 'A3 plus notepad' version with tear-off page. It was printed in 100.000 copies that will be available in the various Infopoints, at the headquarters of the Pesaro Hoteliers Association and in partner hotels as well as in the main city reception points.
Commissioned by the Municipality of Pesaro, the first edition of Pesaro Citymap Welcome saw the light in 2019 as a project by Officine Creative Marchigiane, graphics by Cristiano Andreani with the support of Nico Polidori.
Present at the press conference were: Daniele Vimini president of the Pescheria Visual Arts Center Foundation, Alessandro Bogliolo of the University of Urbino scientific coordinator of the CT Square project, the graphic designer Cristiano Andreani.
We are happy to present the update of the Pesaro Citymap Welcome, it is an effective upgrade of the initial strategy of this editorial path: like this Daniele Vimini. “Today we see the evolution of the initial project which includes two great results obtained after the first edition in 2019: the recognition of Italian Capital of Culture for 2024 and the financing of the project of the House of Emerging Technologies of the Municipality of Pesaro CTE Square. So this is an updated and technological version but which also takes into account the 'physical' changes in the city's urban geography with new places of culture and new features of Bicipolitana”.
Alessandro Bogliolo continued: "the coincidence between the year as Capital of Culture and the Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti project has made Pesaro a national unicum, because it is the only case in which two projects of national importance coincide, a coincidence to be exploited to the fullest to put technology at the service of culture and tourism and the active participation of citizens and visitors of Pesaro. The map contains two important graphic references with QRCodes that lead, respectively: one to the Pesaro 2024 website – highly informative and dynamic -, the other that allows the first time to download an application and the second time to earn WOM, a technological platform that serves to recognize the social value generated by the actions of individuals. The citizen who has this map keeps cultural places alive, justifies the fact that there are events and therefore his participation deserves to be recognized as a generator of value, because events do not have an intrinsic value but have value based on who participates. This technology therefore serves to engage visitors making them co-responsible and co-participants of the year as Capital. In the map each place will have a QR Code that once scanned will give the possibility to earn WOM, but WOM can also be earned by participating in events or taking the public transport of Adriabus and therefore supporting sustainable mobility. They are 'points' that have no cash value but anyone who wants can assign them: in fact there are already many shopkeepers and artisans who offer discounts to those who have WOM and who in this way participate in the pursuit of collective objectives. The paper map therefore carries with it two values: the value of Pesaro 2024 and the value of participation. And so whoever uses it and receives it becomes a fundamental part of the Pesaro 2024 adventure."
Cristiano Andreani concluded: “the Citymap 'Welcome' was born in 2019 with the idea of recovering a romantic object that has made the history of tourism over the centuries and that on paper has a special value that digital does not have. Therefore, the idea was to propose a tourism marketing tool suitable for the city and to that visual culture that at the beginning of the 900th century represented it on posters and playbills in an excellent way and that today are part of the history of graphics for their very high level. The Welcome is part of a larger project with the aim of telling the story of the city without overlapping too much information and working on a set that can be expanded by “themes”. In fact, there are other maps already created: the Bicipolitana, the San Bartolo Park and Pesaro Città che legge. The Citymap project is therefore potentially open to other themes and other narratives”.
