“New Criminal Threats and Investigations 5.0: From the Real World to the Virtual and Metaverse” is the central theme of the event organized by the “Fondazione Insigniti OMRI” and the “Questura di Firenze.

The discussion was led by Prefect Vittorio Rizzi, Deputy Director of AISI, co-founder and Advisor to the Insigniti OMRI Foundation. Rizzi, with a long history as Deputy Chief of Police and director of the Central Anti-Crime Directorate, is a key figure in the field of national security.
His experience in coordinating judicial police activities, in operations against transnational crime and in the seizure of illicit assets makes him a leader of great importance in addressing the issue of new criminal threats and advanced investigations.
In addition to his operational skills, Prefect Rizzi is also a promoter of human rights and active citizenship. Through the Insigniti OMRI Foundation, he contributes to reflections and initiatives that strengthen the bond between institutions and citizens, promoting legality and respect for fundamental freedoms.
The event, moderated by journalist Erika Pontini of “La Nazione”, offered a discussion between experts, authorities and representatives of law enforcement on how to address the challenges of modern crime using advanced technologies, from the physical world to the virtual and the metaverse.
The event was organized with the strong commitment of the Insigniti OMRI Foundation, which, inspired by the constitutional principles and values, works to promote initiatives aimed at the well-being of future generations.
The Foundation involves a vast network of prefects, police commissioners, magistrates, academics, high-ranking civil servants, and representatives of the world of sport and volunteering.
These members, awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI), translate the honor conferred upon them into a free service activity for the benefit of the national community, as provided for by the statute.
The Foundation stands out for its ability to involve high-profile institutional representatives in a constructive and continuous dialogue, aimed at strengthening the democratic fabric of the country through respect for the law and the promotion of active citizenship.
The opening of the works was entrusted to Sara Funaro, Mayor of Florence, followed by greetings from the Prefect Maria Laura Simonetti, President of the Provincial Committee of the Foundation, the Police Commissioner of Florence Maurizio Auriemma, co-founder of the OMRI Foundation and the President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani. The conclusions will be curated by the Prefect Francesco Tagliente, former Police Commissioner of Florence and Rome, and current President of the Insigniti OMRI Foundation.
Among the participants, there were numerous representatives from the academic, cultural and security worlds, together with the Questors of Tuscany and several Prefects from all over Italy.
Around one hundred representatives of provincial committees from various regions, from the north to the south of the country, participated to offer a plurality of voices and perspectives, underlining the importance of collaborative dialogue on issues of crucial importance for national security.
The meeting represented a significant milestone in the journey of the Insigniti OMRI Foundation, which continues to promote dialogue and reflection on constitutional values, involving experts, authorities and citizens in a constructive discussion for the common good.
