Modena is among the 179 “Cycling Municipalities” awarded by Fiab

For the sixth consecutive year, Modena is among the "Cycling Municipalities". 3 "bike smiles" were awarded for the commitment to the creation of infrastructures and policies in favor of cycling, with 247 kilometers of urban routes

Modena is among the 179 “Cycling Municipalities” awarded by Fiab

For the sixth consecutive year, Modena is among the ComuniCiclabili of special Fiab ranking, the Italian environment and bicycle federation, which this year awarded 179 yellow flags to as many cities “bike-friendly”in fact.

In Modena they are up to three: “bike smile”, compared to a maximum of five, especially for activities related to the governance of sustainable mobilityand, to speed and traffic moderation (with Zone 30, for example) and at urban cycle paths: 247 kilometres, with around twenty completed in recent years and various construction sites in progress, such as that of the new section of the Diagonal towards Cognento.

The certificate of recognition, signed by the national president of Fiab Alessandro Tursi, underlines in the motivation its “commitment to the promotion and implementation of infrastructures and policies in favor of cycling” over the last year.Modena è tra i 179 "Comuni Ciclabili" premiati da Fiab

Born with the aim of stimulating local administrations in the development of cycling mobility policies, the initiative also represents the opportunity to develop specific training activities and provide suggestions to local authorities to improve, Year after year, the level of cycling already achieved, making one's territory suitable and increasingly attractive to be experienced and visited by bicycle.

The Fiab-ComuniCiclabili initiative is sponsored by: Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Ecf-European Cyclists' Federation, Anci-National Association of Italian Municipalities, Inu-National Institute of Urban Planning, Association of Virtuous Municipalities, Ali-Italian Local Autonomies, Cities in Bike, World Cycling Alliance and WWF. The eighth edition of the event, for the awarding of the yellow cycling flags for 2025, will start after the summer.
