The creation of the monument, located in the garden of Viale Unità at the corner with Via Mecenate, was proposed by the Consulate General of Hungary and the municipal administration supported it, promoting the initiative as part of the "Milano it's memory."
The memorial stone, the work of the Hungarian sculptor Tibor Túri Török, it depicts a victorious moment of the revolt and establishes the memory of the Municipality of Milano together with the Consulate General of Hungary in the writing: “In the avenue dedicated to their homeland, the sacrifice and courage of the Hungarian heroes who rose up during the 1956 revolution".
“Precisely on the day, October 23rd, in which that revolution began, 67 years later we inaugurate this memorial stone, further confirming the will of the municipal administration - Said Tale - who in 1960 wanted to name this street Viale Unità, as an explicit reminder of the courage shown by the Hungarian people in 1956. It is more important than ever to convey the memory of those facts, of the courage and dedication of a people who opposed a military invasion in the name of freedom and democracy. Unfortunately, the news and history of recent years tell us how timely the warning comes from those tragic days, which nevertheless contributed to building and giving birth to our Europe, democratic and plural, for the construction and consolidation of which even today, day after day, we fight."

An almost defenseless people who have been able to demonstrate that freedom is a good that no price is worth paying. Reason why this event is part of the Milanese schedule of Milano it is Memory”.
