Martinsicuro (Teramo), the Highway Police alongside Autostrade per l'Italia for the thirteenth edition of the "Heroes of Safety".

Le continue awards ceremony for the "Safety Heroes" at the Giro d'Italia, an initiative now in its thirteenth edition and born from the collaboration between the State Police and Autostrade per l'Italia, to enhance the work of the agents and motorway workers who every day monitor the traffic on the high-flow arteries along the country.

At the beginning of the "Corsa Rosa" which crosses the Adriatic ridge, were awarded, in the presence of the Police Chief of the province of Teramo Dr. Carmine Soriente, the operator of the Pescara Branch Directorate Roberta Vianello for having helped the traffic during the rescue operations of a broken down truck; while the Highway Police Department for Abruzzo and Molise were awarded the Assistant Chief Coordinator Michele Di Foglio and the Assistant Chief Coordinator Riccardo Pelliccia for helping a family of three, including a child, in the rescue operations while their car was on fire.

During the different stages of the Giro, the sports awards stage will host eleven operators from the Traffic Police, with whom ASPI works in close collaboration on a daily basis to ensure the safety of users traveling on motorways. At the same time, the Traffic Police will award recognition along the stages from the South to the North of Italy to ten operators of the Autostrade per l'Italia Group who have demonstrated strong dedication to their work, putting skills and commitment at the service of users which are well suited beyond their daily duties.

The stories

On July 2, 2023, on the Abruzzo side of the A14 Bologna Taranto, the car of a family of three, following a road accident, was catching fire. To help the family, Michele di Foglio and Riccardo Pelliccia spoke – both Assistant Chief Coordinator of the State Police, Vasto Sud Motorway subsection – who were finishing their motorway surveillance shift.

In addition to helping the family get to safety, the two agents coordinated and facilitated, with determination, the intervention of the rescuers and to delimit the surrounding area.

April 4, 2023, on the A14 Bologna Taranto, on a day of heavy traffic, Queues had formed due to a broken down truck. The operations operator Roberta Vianello, after having collected all the necessary information from the Radio Information Center, she promptly went to the scene.

Thanks to the teamwork carried out together with the traffic police officers, they managed to remove the semi-axle lost from the heavy vehicle and free the roadway. After the removal, Vianello remained at the site to better facilitate the vehicles in transit, providing assistance and therefore preventing other potential accidents.
