Marche: New flight presented connecting the city of Catalonia and the Marche
In Barcelona during a press conference with the Spanish media, at the headquarters of the Italian Consulate, the flight that from November 18th connects the city of Catalonia and the Marche. Present for the Region was the Councillor for Productive Activities and Agriculture Andrea Maria Antonini (in Barcelona also to participate in the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World) and for the Ancona International Airport was the President De Run Hamish.
The new direct flight connects the airports of Barcelona-El Prat and Ancona in just 1 hour and 30 minutes with an initial frequency of two weekly flights operated by Volotea, a Spanish low-cost airline that has an extensive network of over 105 routes in Spain.
"The new direct connection between Barcelona and Ancona represents a significant step towards the integration of the Marche region into the panorama of the main European tourist routes – comments the President of the Marche Region Francis Acquaroli who sent his greetings to the press conference – . Thanks to this flight, our region becomes even more accessible, allowing Catalan travellers to discover a unique land, rich in history, culture and authentic flavours.. The Marche represents an invaluable heritage for Italy and the world: the historic cities, the villages, the sea and our gastronomic tradition, famous for its quality and sustainability, are just some of the wonders that visitors can experience. We thank Volotea for choosing to invest in the Marche, confirming its value as a tourist destination of excellence”.
"In the first two weeks of the flight from Barcelona to Ancona we had over a thousand passengers, which was absolutely fantastic. – underlined the president Hamish -. Most flights had a load factor above 85% and we expect this to continue over the next 12 months to get more than 25 thousand passengers from Barcelona to visit Le Marche”.
“The Marche region is certainly looking to Spain to intercept new tourist flows, but also to support entrepreneurs – said the councilor during the meeting with journalists Antonini – . The data is surprising: Spain is the fifth export destination for the Marche. We export metallurgical, mechanical, electronic and agri-food products. The connection between Barcelona and Ancona can be really important to give the opportunity to our entrepreneurs, but also to Catalan entrepreneurs since we work a lot on attracting investments, to continue and increase the business more and more.".
""We are very happy to expand the offer of destinations to/from Ancona airport, thus contributing to generating new incoming tourist flows and ensuring that our territory is increasingly connected with the main European destinations." - he added Alexander D'Orsogna, general manager of Ancona International Airport – From Ancona airport, in fact, it is possible to easily reach the most beautiful tourist destinations in the Marche region thanks to the shuttle bus services, the rail connections and the taxi service”.
The Spanish media were then shown the excellence of the Marche region from a landscape, historical, artistic, cultural and food and wine perspective.
