Marche: 300 thousand euros from the Region for the restoration of the "Bergamo" lake in Barchi di Terre Roveresche.

The Marche Region has invested 300mila euros for restoring the “Bergamo” lake in Barchi. A project of great importance which, with these resources allocated, "has a solid basis for its implementation process".

This morning, the regional councilor for the environment Stefano Aguzzi and the mayor of Terre Roveresche Antonio Sebastianelli broke the news and illustrated the operational, technical and economic aspects.

“With the 2024 regional stability law, an extraordinary contribution of 300 thousand euros was assigned to the Municipality of Terre Roveresche, of which 150 thousand for the year 2025 and the same for 2026, intended for the construction of the lake – Aguzzi highlighted – The disbursement of the first installment will be made upon receipt of the documentation certifying the start of the works".

The initiative, added the councilor, “is aimed at ensuring the territory has a strategic and necessary water reserve for multifunctional use, both to help local agriculture, which is increasingly in a critical situation due to drought, and for fire safety purposes as well as, in emergency case, for possible purification. As the Marche Region we wanted to contribute to the creation of Lake Bergamo, believing in the project carried out by the Municipality of Terre Roveresche. We are living in a period characterized by climate change in which the absence of water risks severely damaging our landscape and causing economic damage to entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, and an intervention like this takes on important importance".

Mayor Sebastianelli he remarked: “Among the objectives we set ourselves with the restoration of the basin there is also that of giving new life to the green area in which it is located, restoring to the lake its recreational and sporting functions, capable of producing positive tourist benefits”. Built in the second half of the 60s on an area of approximately 7 hectares, in 1985, due to its inadequacy with the regulations of the time, the mayor of Barchi ordered its emptying and since then the area has been unused.

“Now, finally, we have laid the foundations for its reactivation – stated the mayor of Terre Roveresche – I thank the Region, and in particular the councilor Stefano Aguzzi, for believing in the quality of the project and for providing the significant contribution. The surface area on which the intervention will be carried out is 8,3 hectares, 4 of which will be occupied by the reservoir. The works will consist of restoring the riverbed by cutting the vegetation that has grown there for 39 years; in the maintenance of external wooded areas; in the partial reconstruction of the embankment in correspondence with the Bergamo ditch, with the simultaneous construction of the overflow work, 'delivering' into the ditch itself; and, finally, in the replacement of structures in correspondence with the tributaries".

“The overall economic picture is 820.961 euros – concluded Sebastianelli – and this amount also includes the 70 thousand euros of the first installment relating to the cutting of the dense vegetation that has grown on the surface of the reservoir, which we will carry out in the coming months. We will then launch a tender for all the remaining works, which will take place according to the schedule from September 2025 to September 2026".
