Lecce: Must by Made in Prison, gadgets designed specifically for the Museum

It comes from collaboration between Black – Historical Museum of the city of Lecce and the Officina Creativa social cooperative, holder of Made in Carcere brand, the Must by Made in Carcere project for the co-branding design and creation of gadgets in the name of social inclusion and environmental sustainability to be sold in the new museum bookshop.

Da waste fabrics and warehouse remains hair clips/bookmarks, leather pencil holders with elastic, eco-leather pencil holders with elastic, patchwork travel cube/bag, sail fabric, velvet and cotton placemats, bottle/bottle holders were created. All gadgets are branded Must by Made in Carcere and they enrich the bookshop next to the Musticiu café, where it will also be possible to purchase the catalogs of the permanent and temporary exhibitions hosted at the museum and the café's merchandising.

Made in Prison is a non-profit organization that from beyond 17 years promotes the women's work held in Italian prisons. The philosophy underlying the brand is that of "Second Chance”: for women and men in prison and for reused fabrics. THE the products are all born from the use of exclusively waste materials and fabrics and they are produced by detained people, who are trained for this and then paid.

Il project was funded through the Must's participation in the public notice for the distribution of the fund for the operation of small museums, promoted by the General Directorate of Museums of the Ministry of Culture.

With the opening of the bookshop which follows that of the Musticiu cafeteria, in Must all are active services provided by the municipal administration in the museum.

«The municipal administration is committed – declares the councilor for Culture Fabiana Cicirillo – to make the Must a modern and welcoming exhibition space, equipped with all functional services for visitors. With this project in co-branding with Made in Carcere we are selling gadgets that have a genesis linked to social inclusion and environmental sustainability and we are working on a Must editorial line for the catalogs of the exhibitions that we will host with a style and appearance common and recognizable. Proceeds from sales will be entirely reinvested in the restocking of gadgets and in the subsequent publication of catalogues».
