In April 2025 Pesaro will host the world meeting of UNESCO cities of music.

Pesaro 2024 looks ahead and far away, already reaching precious goals for 2025. Off to Canada to participate in the Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Cities of Music which takes place in London (Ontario)from 26 to 29 February, the deputy mayor and councilor for Beauty of the Municipality of Pesaro Daniele Vimini has taken up the baton from the Canadian city, achieving a historic objective: the certainty of hosting - in April 2025 - the next UNESCO world meeting for the music cluster with 80 delegations from the 5 continents who will stop in our city.

The relationship work carried out in recent years and the contribution brought to the network by the long path of Pesaro 2024 – Italian capital of culture.

The designation of Pesaro as the next host destination of the Annual Music Meeting was underlined with the presentation of the award - created by the artist Hanna Fayad - to be kept, exhibited and participated in UNESCO meetings until moving to the new city of 2026. Curiosity: the award will travel in complete safety in a special case that protects it.

About Meeting 2025 in Pesaro, for the mayor Matteo Ricci, the hope is to be able to also involve Kharkiv, hoping that the situation of the conflict and the international framework have changed, by virtue of the strong bond that we felt from the time of the invasion up to our hearing for the candidacy in Pesaro 2024. In the name of peace it would be wonderful to be able to have this city in the UNESCO Music Network in Pesaro next year from 2021.

Daniele Vimini continues: having representatives of the most important cities in the world for music in Pesaro is important for discussion, to consolidate the work done in recent years by UNESCO and the Music Cluster and in particular to carry forward a theme that we have strongly relaunched in recent days in Canada in London and that is the music economy.

The objective is to bring the UNESCO cities to develop a strategy which - involving different subjects including artists, universities and economists - can highlight the importance of the economy linked to music and therefore the importance of public investments linked to culture, to live entertainment in general, for what is the economic impact on communities and territories, as demonstrated in our cases by the Rossini Opera Festival above all.

The Canadian Days were also an exceptional showcase for Pesaro 2024. For the occasion, Filippo Galeazzi focal point Pesaro Unesco presented the international events that Pesaro will host in the year as Capital - such as the Korean Week in June, the new edition of the Europe Youth Orchestra System entitled 'Song for the Earth' which in July will bring more than 150 musicians from all over Europe to the Rossini Shipyard - but also the beautiful story of Orchestra Olimpia.

Focus also on large projects with a decidedly broad scope and credit as high as the performance of Marina Abramović and Daan Roosegard's Spark project, the inauguration of the Scavolini Auditorium and the Biosphere very fresh from launch.

In aprile 2025 Pesaro accoglierà il meeting mondiale delle città della musica Unesco.
