Environment, Liguria holds the national record for blue flags 2024.
In 2024 Liguria confirms itself “Queen of the Blue Flags”, the recognition given to beaches and landing places not only for the quality of the water, but also for the quality of hospitality and environmental sustainability.
This year they were 34 Ligurian municipalities that have obtained the Blue Flag, with two new entrances (Recco and Borgio Verezzi) and two exits (Ameglia and Taggia).
As for tourist landing places, 16 facilities based in Liguria obtained the recognition, while 67 individual Ligurian beaches were awarded.
“This year too, Liguria has obtained first place in the Blue Flag ranking in Italy, a result of which we can only be proud. – comments the interim president of the Liguria Region – Our seaside resorts are increasingly equipped, efficient and sustainable, all to the advantage of the attractiveness of our territory and the well-being of all Ligurians. Thanks to all the entities, from the Municipalities to the tourism and seaside sector, who have worked and continue to work to build this great quality, a flagship for our Region".
“We are confirmed for the fifteenth consecutive year as the region that has the most beautiful sea in Italy with the greatest number of Blue Flags – comments the regional councilor for Tourism – I want to thank our beach entrepreneurs because receiving this recognition does not simply mean having a clean sea but also that our resorts, our beaches and our tourist ports are the best in terms of equipment and hospitality. In this regard, I announce that this year too, in collaboration with the Regional Council for the Protection of the Rights of the Disabled, Inail Regional Directorate of Liguria and the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association, we will create the Accessible Sea Guide: a useful handbook for identifying beach establishments and free beaches where accessibility to the shoreline and the sea is guaranteed to disabled people”.
“This year too, Liguria has stood out for the quality of its beaches and its sea – comments the regional councilor for the Environment – This is a very positive result not only for tourism, but also for the environment, because it means that our waters have a high quality and that the investments made in recent years in the field of purification have borne fruit. A work carried out thanks to the collaboration of the municipal administrations and the control, monitoring and analysis activities of Arpal's water quality".
