National Unity and Armed Forces Day in Cagliari: the President of the Republic present.

“Today Cagliari has become the Capital of Italy and for this I thank President Sergio Mattarella who chose our city to celebrate National Unity and Armed Forces Day”.

The Mayor of Cagliari, Paolo Truzzu, thus commented on the ceremony which took place on the morning of Saturday 4 November 2023, at the port of the Sardinian capital presence of the Head of State. The choice to celebrate the day in Sardinia has created great attention on Cagliari from all over Italy.

“A beautiful event that – continued the Mayor Truzzu - it really makes us very proud. We had the opportunity to remember many Italians who, during the First World War and in the following years, fought and sacrificed their lives for the unity and freedom of our country. For this reason, once again, I thank the Armed Forces who always guarantee our safety by doing an extraordinary job."

The response of the people of Cagliari it lived up to expectations and many, since the early hours of the morning, have stormed the Port to try to see the President of the Republic.

In addition to the Mayor Paolo Truzzu, to welcome Sergio MatterellI was the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, the Chief of the Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and the President of the Sardinia Region, Christian Solinas. Present on the stage reserved for the authorities, numerous representatives of the civil, military and religious world. There was also a strong participation of the Mayors who came from all over Sardinia to take part in the event.

On behalf of the Government, the Minister of Labor also participated in the Cagliari celebrations, Marina Calderone and the vice president of the Senate, Maurizio Gasparri.

Immediately after the exciting “Dimonios” sung by the band Sassari Brigade, the passage of Frecce Tricolori, who traced the colors green, white and red on the sky of Cagliari, closed the celebrations during which they were delivered, by the Head of State, the five war flag decorations of the Army corps, Air Force and Carabinieri.
