The memorandum of understanding "for the prevention and fight against cyber crimes on critical information systems" between the State Police and the Provincial Health Authority of Cosenza was signed at the Police Headquarters of Cosenza, in the presence of the Provincial Police Chief, Dr. Giuseppe CANNIZZARO.
The document, signed by the Director of the Operations Centre for Cyber Security – Postal and Communications Police “CALABRIA”, Dr. Mario LANZARO, and the General Director, Dr. Antonio GRAZIANO, represents a further step forward in the protection of IT systems and telematic connections of computerized infrastructures, the compromise of which can cause interruptions or malfunctions in the provision of essential public services.
The protocol in question represents a further step in the path of protection of digital assets, growing in the Calabrian territory thanks to the collaborations and memberships of various public and private territorial entities, whose operation in strategic sectors must be guaranteed for the good of the community, with targeted preventive protection actions and prompt intervention in case of emergency.
The collaboration model between the State Police and the ASP of Cosenza is based on the sharing and analysis of information necessary to prevent and counter cyber attacks or damage, emergency reports relating to system vulnerabilities and the development of communication activities to deal with emergency situations.
The coordination of these activities, carried out by the Cyber Security Operations Centers on the territory through specific Cyber Security Operations Units (NOSC), is entrusted to CNAIPIC, the National Center for Cybercrime and Critical Infrastructure Protection of the State Police, established in Rome at the Postal Police and Cyber Security Service which, with an operations room available 24 hours a day, represents the national point of contact for the management of critical events to infrastructures of national importance operating in sensitive sectors and of strategic importance for the country.
