Bari: the tender for the supply of 99 electric buses financed with PNRR funds was awarded.
The European open tender for the supply of 99 electric buses for the city of Bari was awarded to YES – EU ITALY srl, financed with PNRR funds (Measure M2C2 – 4.4.1 Renewal of bus fleets and green trains under bus investment ) for a total amount of 42.768.000, plus VAT.
The vehicles included in the awarded supply must be between 11,50 and 13 meters long, between 2,30 and 2,55 meters wide and no more than 4 meters high. The buses must be able to carry a minimum of 70 people, with at least 20 seats and 1 reserved for people in wheelchairs. The framework of the body structure must be made of steel, aluminum or equivalent materials, weldable and resistant to corrosion: the sides of the chassis must be made in modular sections (panels) in order to allow their partial replacement as needed.
Furthermore, the buses must be equipped with three double-leaf access doors (of the "sliding" or "rototranslating" type) and, in correspondence with the central door, have an access ramp for passengers in wheelchairs, compliant with European legislation and deployable within 30 seconds of request with recovery within 30 seconds of use.
Since these are electric vehicles, the required daily autonomy must guarantee the travel of a minimum of 185 km between two recharges. Furthermore, the vehicles must be equipped with an integrated HVAC system (same system for heating and cooling) with autonomous temperature regulation in the passenger and driver areas, thanks to the increase in temperature up to a maximum of 16° C. in winter and reduced to 16° C in summer. The HVAC system must not run on auxiliary fuel but exclusively on batteries.
As for technological equipment, all systems must be connected to the Amtab smart mobility data center via an on-board router; Route indicators complete with management control unit must be installed on the vehicles.
Finally, an AI-based passenger counting and video surveillance system is required to be able to determine in real time the entry and exit flows and the actual number of people present on the bus, with an accuracy level of at least 99%, and monitor safety on board: AI technology makes use of the latest generation sensors and high-resolution cameras.
The supply of the vehicles must be carried out within 750 days, starting from the date of the report of the start of the execution of the contract. Partial deliveries are permitted as long as they relate to a number of buses of no less than 20 units in the manner provided for in the special tender specifications.
The effectiveness of the award is subject to the successful completion of the remaining checks regarding possession of the participation requirements.
“By 2026 the city of Bari will be able to count on a modern, less polluting and certainly more efficient transport system – explains Mayor Decaro -. Thanks to the Pnrr funds we will have the possibility of almost entirely replacing the fleet of vehicles as well as carrying out a substantial reorganization of the lines through the BRT system. In recent years we have worked a lot on the relationship between the city and urban public transport, trying to rebuild the trust of the people of Bari towards the company and its service, starting with the reliability of the vehicles and accessibility for all. Added to this work is a policy of reducing vehicle emissions so as to reduce pollution and optimize costs, the almost total dematerialisation of the services provided by the offices with a saving of paper and time for citizens and more efficient service planning. effective with respect to the new times and uses of public transport by citizens, residents, workers, tourists and students".
