The “Sport is school” conference in Cortina D'Ampezzo. Towards the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
"The Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Curtain 2026 they represent an opportunity to make the beauty of the Veneto known to the whole world, but above all to create new job and growth opportunities for our young people.
Sport is education, an opportunity for development and attractiveness of the territory in terms of professionalism, an opportunity to generate new organizational models. The initiatives that will be promoted will aim to educate the new generations on the values of respect, friendship and fair play to spread the culture of inclusion and equal opportunities by breaking down barriers;
to promote the participation of all; to inspire young people to take up sport and adopt a healthy and active lifestyle."
This was announced in Cortina d'Ampezzo by the councilor for Education and Training Elena Donazzan during the conference “Sport is school” promoted by the Education Department of the Veneto Region as part of “Veneto in Action. Opportunities for the province of Belluno in view of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games".
An event attended by, among others, Gianluca Lorenzi, mayor of Cortina, Stefano Campoccia, Vice President of the Cortina Foundation, a thousand young people from schools in the Region, professionals from the sports world and representatives of regional schools that combine the sporting activity, even at a competitive level, with the course of study.
“Thanks to this Memorandum of Understanding – added the councilor, after the video messages from the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, and for Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara – Cortina Foundation will enter primary and secondary schools in the area, to meet young people, transmit the values of Olympism and solidarity, thanks to the collaboration with the Paralympic Sports Federation.
Students will have the opportunity to attend the main international sporting events organized in Cortina, living as protagonists a day in the mountains dedicated to sport and friendship. Finally, Fondazione Cortina will train students' personal skills by providing, within the Protocol, paths for direct participation in the world of work, with particular attention to the management and organization of sporting activities and events.
In particular, both volunteering courses will be activated within the various local events, as well as courses for transversal skills and orientation and curricular internships within sports associations and bodies organizing sporting events. A set of opportunities that looks towards a horizon of economic and social development".
“Give confidence and opportunities to young people – comments Stefano Campoccia, Vice President of the Cortina Foundation – means investing in the future of a community. We firmly believe that through education and the transmission of the profound values that sport conveys, not only successful athletes can be forged, but also, and above all, ethically and socially responsible people.
In 2026, Italy will host the XXV Winter Olympic Games, which will not only be an event of epochal significance, but also an extraordinary vehicle capable of inspiring and involving the youngest, educating them on the greatness of sport and the Olympic values and stimulating them to grasp the multiple opportunities that the Olympics will offer to our territory and to Italy as a whole".
