Pesaro and Gabicce, parental burnout, the Center for Families offers free professional consultancy
Mengucci: «We strengthen support for parenting, even remotely, through the immediate and authoritative commitment of professionals»
Pesaro and Gabicce Mare, The Center for Families strengthens its services to support parents at risk of "parental burnout" due to the forced cohabitation of families imposed by the anti-covid-19 measures.
No longer isolated cases but a trend that the Administration has perceived and which it intends to respond to by «increasing the use of expert psychologists from the Center for Families, further reducing the certification lists and allowing an immediate response to the needs expressed by the families to be listened to, welcomed and supported" he comments Sara Mengucci, councilor for Solidarity who adds: «These are continually increasing requests that we want to meet, strengthening support for parenting, even remotely, through the immediate and authoritative commitment of the Centre's professionals."
The pandemic has forced many parents into forced coexistence with their children and many fathers and mothers say they are exhausted, feeling a sense of exhaustion also caused by social isolation and forced physical detachment from the world, from habits, from sport, from convivial and playful situations. Symptoms that can lead, in extreme cases, to "parental burnout", an exhaustion syndrome characterized by three elements: feeling of loss of sufficient energy to carry out daily tasks; a sort of emotional detachment towards children; the feeling of being an ineffective or incapable parent.
«We talk about this syndrome in extreme cases – explains the Dr. Barbara Pasini, psychologist-psychotherapist coordinator of the Center for Families of the ATS n.1 of Pesaro and Gabicce mare -, but there are numerous parents who turn to health professionals every day, doctors and psychologists, asking for support to cope with a daily life that is difficult to organise, support and endure and to identify tools to help children overcome this difficult and alienating period."
